I have no time for racists or homophobes and would never choose to willingly socialise with them.

Try and avoid "lad" types as much as possible as they are far from inspiring company.

I dont associate with people that dont mutually make the effort to be sociable. I dont know if that's a very broad definition or a specific type of person but you generally know when you're not going to get along with somebody.

I am good friends with people who have served time in prison and who have turned their lives around and are now helping others, proud to call them my friends and would rather associate with them than with some of the bigots on here, some of the homophobic and racists attitudes on such a liberal site are shocking to say the least

its not that surprising....

didn't that ghastly katie hopkins woman go on this morning and say that she wouldnt allow her kids to mix with other children with names of "a certain class"

she refuses to let her children become friends with a Kylie, Chantelle and Charmaine and believes the Tylers and Brandons of the world have no hope for the future.

to socialize with probably, but that would be more about their attitude than mine to be honest

I dont see people as being horrible at every turn of their lives..even in the most horrible of people, who commit the most horrific acts, they will have that spark that can make someone engage with them..and it might not even be them manipulating a situation for their own selfish needs

so I would socialize with them, just in human interaction terms at least

I see. I think you're mixing up the very vocal minority with the silent majority. People tend to keep their real feelings regarding such contentious issues to themselves or at least only express them with the like minded.

The attitudes to racism and homosexuality will be no different in here than they are in the vanilla world (so dislike that term)

"Everyone is ever so PC on here is that because they don't want to scare off potential suitors or mod wrath?"

It's UK wide, the fear of actually voicing an opinion without being shouted at and labelled.

If as a heterosexual man you say that love between two men is perfectly normal you are considered to be a wise and understanding fellow.

Of course if you were to say that love between two men is perfectly acceptable but you would rather knaw your own arm off than suck another mans cock you would be described as homophobic.

Nowadays you have to say what is acceptable as opposed to what you actually think.

PS, my profile gives no clue to my sexual preferences so please, NO jumping to conclusions as the above is nowt more than an example

Yes there is, it's called Islamic extremism. Al Quaida killing innocent civillians in the name of religion just makes me sick.

I don't think you can say you would absolute not associate with certain people because that makes you as small minded as the person making the comment.

Its happened for centuries some people use religion for their own means and this lot do it along with others. I personally wouldn't choose to have anything to do with any of them.

I wouldn't say vile but definitely uneducated and lacking any sort of tact or compassion. The bit about who to avoid though I would agree with there are good and bad in many areas but people who have no tolerance at all are not who I would choose to associate with.

I have seen many people say that if you say you hate all druggies. Including the suppliers. You are judgemental . Personally I find no excuse for it. If you have had a hard life to the point where you don't care anymore. Why kill yourself gradually and annoy the world in the process. Surely if it was that bad you would try to end all together. I am not saying I am for suicide, but I can see where they are coming from. Druggies I can't. Secondly they say its not their fault. Its am addiction. As far as I am aware in order to be an addict. You have to try it first. So why try them in the first place . Lastly apart from alcohol as far as I know. No mind altering drug as bought any good in this world. Stinking thing to do, which the police/courts are far too light on when giving out punishments I say.

Thieves. You can defend now and again, but its still wrong and punishments are far too light.

"Let those without sin cast the first stone"

Sorry to get all biblical but we're all flawed in one way or the other.

I started a conversation with a d*unk person today on the train and we had a nice conversation about football. He used to play amateur but got a knee injury and mentioned a few tips I'm going to try in my game tomorrow. Yes, he took repeated swigs from a can of stella in his pocket but we still had a nice chat. We wished each other a nice evening and went about our lives.

The point I'm trying to make is if you don't know someone, why jump to conclusions? All I'm seeing in this thread are some very judgemental people.

As for the original question, no not as individuals, though there are some groups I would probably not wish to associate with, and there are many individuals who after 5 minutes I would be looking for the door, but they all get a chance to make a good first impression.

Prescription drugs are allowed and as you said they helped you to get better. Since when has meow meow, cocaine, etc helped anyone? All I know is anyone I have seen on drugs is either people who take it for fun. Why for fun? If they want to numb the pain fair enough, but I can't stand people who do it for fun. If they do it to numb the pain. Surely its more of a cry for help as if they wanted to numb the pain, they would end their life? (For the record I am against suicide). Sorry, but the only people I know who take them are arrogant people who come across as bullies or are two faced. I deal with druggies and d*unks and the d*unks are a lot easier to handle and usually they apologise for their behaviour when they sober up or even as they are doing wrong. Druggies continue doing it. Unless prescribed by a doctor. I can't see a reason to take drugs.

" Since when has meow meow, cocaine, etc helped anyone?

"

Cocaine was widely used as a local anaesthetic, though now mainly synthesised alternatives are used, which only exist because scientists were able to study cocaine. meow meow appears to be entirely synthetic with no beneficial effect. bottom line is the drug users you are referring too are high dose addicts, The same happens with alcoholics and they do behave just as badly, and get equally desperate for their fix.

Most things that can be made from natural'ish ingredients are OK (not necessarily good) for you so long as you don't take to much of it.

Treat everyone as you respect to be treated, with respect and consideration. Sometime in all our lives, we are going to come across people we don't want to associate with/talk to/mix with but you just have to do what you feel is right. In my job, I deal with an extremely diverse amount of people. What I personally feel cant come into it........however, if something directly affects you what is thrown at you, then that's hard.

The land of grey peas and bacon

I make judgement after speaking to someone i don't make judgement on those i have not uttered a word to....I have been judged pretty much for many years its not a nice experience...people are not immune to the things you judge on you may end up in their shoes....

Judging on words not actions? I think if we're honest we do it on all sorts of things including things we don't even realise. It's a question of how open you are to your judgements being wrong (and how well you manage to hide your original thoughts/prejudices).

"druggies piss heads and thieving scum

Same here. No time at all for the wasters.

Thieves. You can defend now and again, but its still wrong and punishments are far too light."

What a discusting post. I hope you or none of your loved ones end up in a position where they feel like they have no control over there lives or addictions.

Arse lickers, people who are cruel to animals, people who are full of self pity, people who are obsessed with their kids, money, housework, their looks, people who watch the x factor.

Oh yeah, I'm not keen on people who act all 'holier than though' in forums, and tart things up so everyone praises them. Id much rather people who can be direct and say what they really think.

"I always find fhese threads slightly sad.

The stuff about drugs is deeply sad. Mind altering drugs have never benefited society?

You might want to throw all your books, DVDs, music and art out then.

Most people are three paycheques from being homeless or bankrupt and remember the intolerance you show on the way up may well be reflected on the way down.

"

Thanks for cheering up my day.

That really is a wonderful post.
