If there is a difficult subject you have to deal with someone , do you use your diplomatic skills, or do you cut to the chase and dispense with the bullshit?.

Unfortunately, being diplomatic goes over the head of some so you have to be straight. Personally I can't be arsed with pussy footing around.

I'd say I was a bit of both. Straight-spoken, but not deliberately in a hurtful way (unless it's needed).

But in the case of the last posting, straight to the point. Obviously we can discuss any issues this posting may have caused. We can all rest assured that the best possible outcome will be achieved by honest, forthright and vigorous debate. If this mediating fails to correct said issues we can refer back to the original statement for clarification and a resolution.

It depends on the situation. At work, as a manager, I have to be diplomatic. But I do try to be straight to the point in a diplomatic way. But yes, some people are so thick that being diplomatic just doesn't work sometimes.

"What's diplomacy ? "

Telling someone to fuck off in such a way that they actually look forward to the journey.

I try to address things diplomatically first and if that does not work I become less diplomatic. Of course it depends on circumstances, whether it is at work or private business including family.

Yes I am diplomatic, only those with poor communication skills wouldnt be.

In my professional life it is essential that I am diplomatic but I always ensure that the information I am giving is clear.

On an Internet forum debate and difference of opinions and the written word can be interpreted differently. I don't sugar coat my words but I hope that I'm not rude.

That rules out Maggie Thatcher, Bernard Ingram, Alistar Campbell and Malcolm Tucker then.

probe The situation first with a little diplomacy , judge The feedback ....either debate gracefully or fire at will , lifes too short to suffer fools
