Up North :-)

They did it in the 15th to 20th centuries in Western society A duel was a consensual fight between two people, with matched, usually deadly weapons in accordance with rules explicitly or implicitly agreed upon, over a point of honour, usually accompanied by a trusted no2, often in contravention of the law.

A Falchion is a type of wide bladed single edged sword, sometimes curved & sometimes broader at the tip. Usually carried by common foot soldiers and archers during the medieval period. A very good melee weapon designed for slashing rather than thrusting but short enough for a thrust at close quarters. Often used to great effect with the small iron/steel shield called a buckler.

I'm not too bad with one!

Similar, although i do two centuries earlier - the Wars of the Roses.

Means i get to wear lots of armour, hit people with 8ft pole-arms and drink mead!

duelling would be a great idea How about throwing things at one another instead of shooting each other?

How about throwing cricket balls, or apples and oranges?

Or how about an arse kicking contest? You tie your hands behind your back and chase each other round, but only scoring kicks to the arse are allowed? I'd pay to watch that

Would you? Arse-kicking is one of the medieval games we play in front of the public - seems to go down well for some reason!

You should go out in any town centre on Friday nights. You can do the exact same thing with a scaffold pole but you get to drink proper lager, not that honey-based shite that makes you vomit after 2 fingers of it.

How strange, i can drink lots of mead but very little of that chemically produced vile concoction called lager!

Not too sure about bringing duelling back but I'd definately like to see a return of the stocks in town centres where you can get a local hoodlum, lock him in the stocks for a bit, and pelt things at him ... like rocks and knives and pickaxes.. that'd be cool.

I'm liking the idea of bringing back duelling. Although maybe we could add a twist.

Make it like Gladiators and get the contestants stood on platforms while they whale away at each other with those giant cotton buds (or pugel sticks as I think they were known!!)

Ah-woo-gah!!
