being the owner of an iphone 5 it looks as it became very dated overnight of which i am a bit disappointed...

I will likely give the 5s a miss and wait the next years model... keep my 5 and just update to ios7......

for anyone with an iphone.. ios7 will appear next wednesday 18th september

anyone who downloaded ios6 "should" be able to do an "over the air" update to 7.... but probably safer to do it thru itunes...

I've just got the 5 today. I'm not a phone tech I'm just blooming glad it's not cracked and it works. Apart from the fact it's lighter , longer and got Siri I don't have a clue about what's been done to it. I can talk text and view fab, I'm happy

Been on the iPhone since the 3G. Have been faithful ever since, currently running a 4S.

Then the Galaxy S4 was released and I have been seriously tempted to move over but have held out for the release of the next iphone.

Apple are getting left behind that's for sure. However the build quality is second to none. Arghhh still have no idea what to do.

yes apparently it does... apple reckon 10 hrs lte/3g time, 40 hrs audio, 250hrs standby....

as much as it was about new phones, the bigger thing for me is ios7.... if it makes the phone feel as different as they suggest I think most "5" users will skip the 5S and wait...

I think you've got your sources a little mixed up. The 5s and 5c were released today. The 5s is metal like the 5 and has some additional features. The 5c is a cheaper handset with a plastic case and has slightly fewer features.

at the moment your phone runs ios6, next week the updates version of ios comes out, ios7...

it will basically be the updated software with lots of extras in it....

Yep you can indeed get fluffy pink covers. And I take it the number swap went ok? And a new ios is out"

The new OS is out for the 5s as it is already installed, it will be available to download to previous models next week apparently.

had a thought....

actually if you got your 5 today... i would say hold onto it till the 20th... then return it and swop it for one of the newer models.... they should allow you to do that within 14 days since in effect your 5 becomes a "discontinued model"...

even if you just swop it for a 5c (or a 5s depending on how much you paid) it should have all the updated stuff on it....

I remember the days when you had to wait until you got home before making a phone call, or using a phone box (remember them?).

In the states they have been offering $250 cash back to iPhone 3 owners who upgrade

Been with apple for years currently iPhone 4s will probably wait until next year for the iPhone 6 like others have said I have considered the htc one and the Samsung s4, but I seem so connected to apple with my iTunes account all my kids an family have iPhones my iPad and like what has been said before really looking forward to iOS 7

You've hit the nail on the head. Apple aren't just about the I-phone. They are simply a very well marketed lifestyle brand. If prices of their Macbooks were similar to the lower end laptops, Microsoft would have had more of a battle on their hands in that area.

You could argue that nothing that Apple sell is actually the best at everything it does, but they obviously have the lead when it comes to design, or at least have had as far as phones are concerned.

the $99 dollar price is on a us 2 year contract.... the £469 is a sim free phone

Apples pricing policy is to have the product selling for the same price in all regions

The price for a tax free iPhone in Gibraltar is the same as a duty paid one in concepcion de la linea on the other side of the border.

The duty paid one will become cheaper once the vat has been reclaimed as the purchaser returns to Gibraltar

but you dont tend to buy phones "sim free".... they will either be locked onto PAYG or tie you to a contract, so it will be a lot cheaper by the time it gets to you...

Everyone I know personally who purchased a iphone 5 has returned it due to it going faulty or if it isn't faulty they're just disappointed with it. Apple need to spend more time on the tech and battery performance and less on just releasing a new phone.
