I think the word that's in the word is a clue, for me personally it involves a certain amount of feelings.

How long after meeting did the way you thought of him change?

Do you thin you have to have an emotional attachment to call someone a lover?

A lover would be someone I was emotionally involved with. I would never call someone a lover if it was no strings.

About six months.. Its wierd actually because it was him that started to call me it.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

In the old days a lover would be an extramarital sexual partner.

I use it when I think of someone who has moved beyond just a sexual meet and with whom I have 'made love'. These have been people that remain no attachment (except one person who went beyond lover description). The sex is more intimate and satisfying with those people but they don't clutter up my home or life.

Yup. I'd add that whilst there is a feeling there, it needn't be an "attachment". A lover without attachment is a delicate and fine creature.

I think so....otherwise they are FWB, shags or the odd fuck or meet. IMHO.

The key words here for me are 'intimacy and satisfying'. Those, to me, are descriptions of behaviour rather than the feelings associated with a lover. You can have intimacy and satisfaction with someone with whom you 'click' as you are on a common wavelength, but that doesn't mean (to me) that they are a 'lover'.

ted.

There has to be emotion and strong emotion above the raw passionate sex that you just get in a meet.

I would say you have an ongoing relationship with a lover that is not just sex based. There also has to be a level of intimacy above pure sex.
