Before either of these useful tools were invented or at least common place, the world still turned, things got done, people still met, had fun, socialised etc and I got more sleep!

I have a mobile phone in my car, in case of breakdown, or a problem with my dogs or horses, but besides that never use one, £5 credit from asda pay as you go lasts at least 6 months on my £8.99 phone.

and worth every penny for re assurance.

Working from home my PC has changed my life, so couldn't manage without it.

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

I loathe my phone but I love the internet.

Both are awesome tools, but I spent the majority of my life without either of them, so I suspect I'll survive.

Life would take a large step back if internet and smartphones became unavailable.

Unless it's a simple call/text only phone, then it too will use the internet/wifi....

But the world would still revolve, and people wil find other ways to do things

Yes, we could happily do without either. The internet would be missed much more than the mobiles though!

I resisted getting a smart phone for years till my trusty, been everywhere seen everything Nokia 6310 looked as if it was about to die. I bought an iPhone on the advice of people I trust and I wish I'd done it years ago.

Such a difference.

Soon mobile internet with be a requirement. If you don't have it, you'll miss out. Its akin to asking the question, could you live without your car, but 50 years ago.

Spent a week on Anglesey, and I could actually see the nearest mobile phone relay mast with the naked eye, still no signal. Did it ruin my holiday? No it made it better. A weekend in Sedbergh visiting Bowness and the dales, again within sight of a mast, no signal, and all the better for it. Sister-in-laws chap brought his laptop and was pissed off he could not use it. He never even stopped to think " do I NEED to use it". Just assumed he had to, to function properly. A bit sad really. I would love to see him on a tour of the Aussie outback or an African safari. Who needs an App when you have a map, the sun, the stars and a bit of knowledge?

Used a smartphone for a year and since I got rid of it, bliss. I meet many more people when my head isn't stuck in the screen and being unsociable.

I only use the internet these days to keep in contact with family and distant friends but life is better without it when I'm out and about which is how I like to spend most of my time.

When on the moors or the beach they are pointless. Enjoy the freedom.

If you go to a smoking shelter at work now during brewtime/lunch, it's full of people pressing buttons and swiping screens. It used to be you went for a smoke and found out what was really happening at work, because people spoke to each other, now you have to check your email/txts. It's like being on the Tube now.

we enjoy totally without both. wife writes books and we proof read before uploading on amazon. i am writing but sloooow, so not there yet. without internet and phone we get a lot more done. besides, you need time to look at the downloaded things, so when offline avi films pdf magazines and e-books take up the evenings, unless something else is on the cards, nudge nudge wink wink, say no more
