Surely its the responsibility of the driver ???

The parent should let them out, especially in an unknown spot

Anyone know if it is the driver who is responsible for children opening car doors or is it the child?, as i was hit full on the hip today by a kid opening a car door where her mum(i presume) had parked half on the path, and the kid opened the door as i was walking past.

I must admit i wasnt happy and i did swear i think, before i knew it was a kid who had did it(i thought it was an adult).

Yes i wouldnt have minded if it was a gentle opening of the door but it was a full on shove open straight into me. I dont blame the kid so much, but the mum had parked in a bus stop, half on the pavement with the lights turned off so you couldnt tell if anyone was in there or not.

Now i worry i could get done for swearing in front of her kid, even though i didnt realise it was a kid until id already said watch what your f@@@ing doing. Would other people have reacted like i did or would they have resisted swearing?.

it is illegal to park or drive on a pavement, unless you are accessing your property, as the highway code states. im not a geek, im learning to drive! so, illegally parked vehicle, report it!

The driver and i would have said something if they had parked on the pavement too.

The adult in charge of the child is responsible for everything they do. This driver had also broken the law by parking on the pavement.

Your reaction and language is understandable and forgiveable. It's what you do from now on that needs thought.

Stu ... I'm glad you were gracious and I think anyone should be unless they have been severely injured or the other person was acting maliciously. Society is far too entrenched in blame and compensation these days. People are losing their basic humanity for a few sheckles. It's more damaging to how we care about each other than people think. xx
