"No, but I have found on occasion that the company they wish to keep means that I can no longer enjoy theirs..... ted." I just chose not to keep their company at the same time they are with the undesirables

"No, but I have found on occasion that the company they wish to keep means that I can no longer enjoy theirs..... ted." I understand this. I have given up some long term friends as the change in them through their newer company means they are not the same people and I am not the same around them. It's more difficult when it's family.

"Do you judge people by the company they keep? " yes, unfortunately. it cant be helped. there is a single mother over the road from here that has all manner f scumbags hanging around the house (these people have stolen off her child yet STILL are welcomed in). she is on a final warning for THEIR behaviour from the HA and yet she still has them round. her mother lives up the road and is forever telling her to get rid of them as scumbags but she wont have it, so there is only 1 conclusion to come to. she is one of them. she is happy to be so.

"depends on the company...obviously if a person is hanging around gang bangers or thugs that gives an entirely differnt type of impression than if that person hangs around liberals/conservatives/religious/non-religious types of folk." Gang bangers??? Have ye no seen the rogue's gallery of convicted criminals in professional politics??

"No I don't, I just avoid them when they are in the company of people I don't like - if that makes sense." Of course it does. If I visit someone I like and there are folk I'm not comfortable with, I'll bow out after a polite few minutes. Rather meet them when there are no jammers that would spoil it for me. Leading quite a solitary life, the few true friends I am lucky to have tend to come here, as we can enjoy each other's company in peace and quiet. Although I'm always polite and welcoming (I try, I honestly try), not every friend's partner/friends prove to be my kettle of fish. You have to be honest about it.

"I judge people all the time although that doesn't mean I'm comparing them in a manner where my respect for them as an individual is effected .... " As do we all every day, Soxy. I still can't get my head round those who say they don't judge! We all judge when we meet someone and we all look at people and think about who they are with and what they are doing. It's human nature. Yes is my answer to the question. I would not want to be associated to someone who mixes with "bad sorts". I don't want to be associated with those who mix with people I cannot stand for whatever reason. But I am just a bloke!

"Yes I judge people on all sorts of criteria, clothes, looks, job, friends, where they live, what car they drive, their _iews on certain matters, what they read and infinite other things...we all do it and just because I take these things into account unconsciously to form an opinion doesn't mean that opinion is bad. Judgement is what keeps us safe a lot of the time it means we can judge that the bloke following us down the dark alley with his hood up, carrying an axe is probably not good company to be keeping. "

" Indeed we do. I was just wondering how much the company they keep influences us too. Fab is an odd place as we don't see people in their 'normal' friendship groups. We are judging that they are at least after sexual friendships of a sort by being on here. Then things are exposed in the message exchanges or on the forum and that affects judgement too.

"Everyone judges everyday of their life. It's human nature. You park your car in a rough area of town and make sure it's locked 3 Times and parked under a street light. Why? Because journals judged that neighbourhood to be unsafe and want your car to still be there in one piece when you get back. You go to a party and see 2 people there. Oneddripping in designer clothes sipping champagne and the other in primarni specials necking back a cider. You make a beeline for the designer champagne person because they are bound to be more fun. You are walking down the street and see an old homeless d*unk asking for change. You put your head down and walk on by because he is only going to spend it on booze anyway. " Agree with this. But am glad to say that often first judgments are often not final judgements

There are many more conclusions that could be arrived at - depending on the person judging. e.g. maybe she's a pretty weak character without many friends and fears lonliness more than she fears facing up to people who she feels are better than nothing.
