What's your favourite charity and how much of the £56 million would you donate?

Torquay

We have already raised a lot of money through my business for Help for Heroes, if I had won the £56m I would have opened a hotel down here for the families of wounded service personnel to have a free break.

We very, very seldom donate financially to charity, far to many to chose from, although we have in the past donated our time to those less fortunate than ourselves.

A world of my own

So many charities and good causes, would help local hospitals with equipment, cancer research, stoke association, third world charities, animal charities.. I'd give quite a few million away thats for sure.

I'd use the money like this:

1) Sort myself out. House, car etc etc

2) Sort my family out. House car etc etc

3) Do nothing for a year, then..

4) Beginning exactly one year after the win I'd deposit £50k in each my family member's bank account on their birthday every year for ten years, except my parents who'd get a cool £1m to live out the rest of their days however they want.

5) Charity. Nothing. 'Good causes' get 50% of the prize fund anyway.

6) Overseas Aid. Nothing. Hrlp begins at home and I just took care of all them.

7) My kids. Get all my money after I die but my daughter's share is held in trust until after her mother dies as I'm not letting her get a fookin penny of it. Bitch.

.

Cancer Research Fund

Help For Heroes

As mentioned in another thread, I would build a private independent hospital to provide specialist treatment to wounded service personnel for free.

Are you aware that if you donate to the nspcc a large proportion of the donation goes to admin and paying their staff!!

For me, it would be charities for heart disease, cancer and elderly people. One of those three is gonna get me in the end!

(If I won the lottery, I could live happily ever after on half a million and I would give the rest away. Are you listening up there?????)

I already donate monthly DD to childrens, cancer, homeless and blind charities, so I think I would do a secret millionaire and go undercover and help in the community, giving what I could where it was needed most. xxxx

Charity donations - keep it local

There is a great little cancer charity here in Cornwall that deals with the day to day problems of having cancer. It sorts out all kinds of things that often take an age to get through the NHS. Practical help that can make a massive difference to someone's quality of life.

On the other hand I know one of the big cancer charities thought nothing of spending £100K on revamping their already perfectly adequate website. When they get beyond a certain size their focus switches to their own empire-building.

Recently I decided to donate 10% of my profits to three charities including the childrens hospice movement but it would be wonderful to help them with a couple of million.

OMG Laine you are SO on my wave length - as i was reading this thread i was thinking Secret Millionaire.

I worked for a charity for 8 years - and you know what - the goveners are PANTS - they dont know what the moeny is doing - they dont look after the staff and they squander precious pounds (hundreds of them) on bollox!!!

I also DD to National Trust, WWF, NSPCC & RSPB. It only amoounts to about £15 a month - i spnd more than that on my mobile phone.

When i was in London (its in Notts to - i just dont see so much of it) but the victims on the street of day to day living, rape, drugs, poverty, lifestyle of parents etc.

Charity really should start at home, lets build up these run down estates - get the people invlolved in helping - cos at the end of the day they DO want better lives.

Oh oh - i can feel myself going off on one - tim,e to stop before i offend someone!!! only been back 5 hrs, PMSL!!!

Of course i would make sure me family were sorted out first
