Here it comes. Govt Ban No.2

We had all the anti-smoking ads on TV that eventually led to the anti-smoking ban. Now I've just seen one from the NHS about drinking. Pubs are being allowed to close at a breathtaking pace with no bail-outs from the Govt. Supermarkets are being encouraged to sell less alcohol in bulk and will have to have a minimum pence-per-unit soon. I foresee a reduction in opening times for licenced premises, and licences to seel booze become increasingly harder to obtain. Anyone else sense a booze-ban on the not too distant horizon?

Dunno if they'll ban it, I think the yanks tried that one a few years ago and it didn't really work

But I can most definately see a price hike in the offing. Once again the majority of level headed folks, who enjoy a gargle after a long week at work, will be punished for the actions of the minority of morons

It'll probably be based on the average respiritary rate of an adult multiplied by the volume of air that an average pair of lungs can hold, multiply that by the estimated number of breaths you'd take in a lifetime then Bob's ya uncle.

Air 20p per cubic metre

We love a drink but I agree with banning alcohol advertising. It is a dangerous drug that would be banned immediately if it was discovered now. We would never see adverts for Cannabis or similar drugs so why should we allow alcohol adverts?

I think it's quite sensible to make booze less accesible, I can't see a ban as look what prohibition was like in America. We both like a few drinks ourselves but the death rate from over drinking is horrendous at the moment, it's true that the minority do spoil things for the rest of us but I don't mind paying a bit extra if it means that a kid can't get pissed every night! Z

i dont see an outright ban but i do see some serious price increases coming!! yet another form of tax!!

they really need to target the lower brand end ie a bottle of super strength cider is 2 quid up the price on it!!

the majority gettin made suffer for the minority again! x

A car travelling at just 40mph *can be* extremely deadly. Does that make the car dangerous, or the person driving it?

But its about time the government started practising what it preaches.

You can still smoke in alot of places in the houses of commons...only those who work there, not us minions

They get cut price booze and make sure they drink their quotas worth.

But then pigs may fly first

they have figured out how to tax air.our local asda was so successful and parking space was limited so they decided to submit application to local authority for upper level carpark and were taxed 3 million pounds for airspace by local council LABOUR

The Labour Party was formed many years ago to represent the down-trodden British Worker, and back then that class was almost exclusively White British. But it's not the case in Britain today is it? Labour claim automatic right to ANY immigrant coming over to the UK and to prove that case they opened the floodgates deliberately and allowed them to pour in. Of course they would though, it's their supporters they're allowing through.

If you take a look at 3rd generation non-white British people here today, most of them would be appalled to know that Labour think of them still as the Immigrant Class, and as such, Labour supporters.

This whole diversity campaign that Brown/Blair initiated had nothing at all to do with race, colour or creed.

It was to do with votes. Period.

Traditionally, Labour cannot hang onto power for very long and almost always inherit power from a disaffected British public who are disillusioned with the Tory Party. Labour know this. They also know that they had to bolster their support base by diluting the support of the Tory/Liberal parties. And the easiest way to do that was to open the doors for the type of people who traditionally would vote Labour.

I think they may have egg on their faces come May, but that is nothing compared to the irrepairable damage that has been done to this country by the worst Labour Government in history.

Why should pubs be bailed out by any government?

They are businesses like any other and if you start bailing out pubs then where will it end?, they are no different to any high street shop that is suffering at the moment.

I doubt it'll be banned anytime soon. Most probably a rise in the age you can drink, stricter laws about when supermarkets can sell alcohol and perhaps "experts" visiting schools.

Administrators to Landsbanki showed no mercy to those with loans, it was estimated that 27,000 houses were repossesed in the year following Landbanskis liquidation because of no fault of the poor people that borrowed the money.

15,000 cars in Holland alone were snatched back because their owners couldn't find anyone to refinance the loans for them.

So.....completely different to your local pub closing down.

Brrrr, no, far better for everyone to be at home watching X-factor, followed by a couple of hours of contrived bullshit about how human and vulnerable our Gordon is. The streets will be far quieter then, no danger of civil disobedience. Just the way They want it.
