A million is not to be sniffed at - but these days its not lifechanging.

If you spent half on a house and kept the rest for retirement - your annuity would only give you around £30k a year pension.

to the OP, always remember to have a 3rd Option - for those that don't like the other two. Third Button should have been "I am not interested in your actual question but I want to be on this thread with my opinion anyway, so I won't take the money for any one of a thousand reasons" Its long winded for a label but could work. This wouldn't cover the people who want to pipe in about not wanting to push buttons, so maybe there would have to be a bell to ring, a flag to wave or some other form of selecting an option.

for what its worth, there are two of us so we would press both at same time haha.

I would go for button two.

A million quid would give me a little more security but not be massively lifechanging as we have a decent lifestyle already.

500 million would give more than enough security as well as allow me to help family, friends and a number of other worthy causes to make a difference.
