I use to think that when me and my wife split up . Every song seemed to be my life . I think its because when your happy and listening to songs you dont really take the words in .when you are sad you listen to every word of a sad song xx

Not necessarily when I'm sad but definetly when I'm in a deep thoughtful mood. Sometimes certain song words can express how we are feeling better than us

Contrary to what non-smiths fan might think, their music always makes me feel happy!

I had a sad time here once, used to play adele because it meant something, would end up in floods of tears, but it was a release for me, then I could carry on

it is soothing in a melancholy sort of way but doesn't make me happy

I think you should listen to sad songs if that gives you the release you need, if you bottle things up, it will only makes things worse.

So it is good for the soul because you will then bounce back up.

I have what I call a safe song.... Daft I know. When I'm nervous about anything, or worried, or uptight I play a certain song and it relaxes me.

Songs/music hold so many memories for everyone. I do sometimes think that dependant on our mood, can dictate his we interpret the song xx

Always put on songs that have good memories as I think sad songs would bring me down which cant be a good thing

I sometimes think song lyrics can express what I feel better than I can say. And if im feeling sad, a sad song can make me cry, but I always feel better after a cry.

To me, without it being cheesy, music needs to say something about the human condition. And all my music's pure class, of course. For instance i find stuff like: 'i raised a family in times of austerity with sweet from the foundry' much more uplifting than: 'we're all going on a summer holiday. No more working for a week or 2'. You could say i like to keep it real.

I subsequently listen to meloncholy music. And playing such songs when I'm having a tinny and cooking the kids dinner makes the world alright with me. Ftr Mr Cohen also puts me on a high.

And when I'm truly peed off it's the sound of silence.

I talk to people about it when I'm not happy, or just talk in general to feel better. Otherwise Jazz/Funk Fusion is generally a good uplifting and soothing genre.
