"My Grandfather`s pocket watch. An American Waltham movement in an English silver case hallmarked in the 1870`s. The movements were shipped from America by a disgruntled ex-employee of Walthams who commisioned the manafacture of the cases. The watches were quite popular, much to the annoyance of the Waltham factory back in the States! Information came from the Coventry Clock and Watch Museum by the way!" my mum has a singer sewing machine, and all my books from when I was a child in her loft, Enid Blyton's and more

"Kate wears my great grandma's wedding ring. She wears it next to our ring. It's only about a hundred years old but great grandad bought it just before he went into action in First World War. He came through it ok and they both lived a long and happy life, so we're hoping some of it's luck will rub off on us. Our first 32yrs together haven't been too bad. " That is so lovely. My first engagement ring was my great grandmothers. It didn't work out for me but hey go x

"My favourite piece of the past is a small water colour painted by.......... Albert Ball VC 1st world war fighter ace with 11 kills to his name, in his spare time when not up in the air over flanders he used to unwind by painting water colour pictures I wouldn't sell it for any money. I also have several Victorian bottles also. What treasured bygone antique or collectable do you have. And I don't mean the wife or hubby ha ha " On a whim just bought an antique plough god alone knows what I am going to do with it Seemed right at the time to buy it and was a bugger getting it home Oh well a winter project to renovate it.

" And Harry - the skull I dug up myself in the mid 70s. He is from before 1600. Never had him properly dated. Some find him offputting, sitting there on his shelf. I think he's beautiful. He was perfect when I found him - but he lost a few of his teeth through changing indoor temperatures and humidity." I am not sure that is legal, I thought you had to organise reburial

Maybe the poster is intending having Harry buried with her???

" Well as there has been no official dating of said skull it could have been buried in the past few years(maybe recently) and could be a murder victim's. Should really take it to the police.

"Re Harry - as I said, I found him in the 70s, when I was still living abroad. The building that was going to be erected was on the spot where since 1600 a hospital had been. Before that, there was a monastery with its own graveyard. Harry must have been a monk, or at least lived there. So he's a Venerable Old Bloke. The local authorities decided to leave things as they were and not to excavate. So - there you are. Nothing suspicious. I called him Harry because of a series of articles in Reader's Digest about the human body - I am Harry's Liver, I am Harry's Pancreas, etc. This is Harry's Head. " A very interesting thread and great to read

"According to the original instructions it could be used for treating everything from piles to diptheria The first time I used a violet wand on Debs she said "What will happen if you use it on my new (clit hood) piercing?" Well after we all stopped laughing we scraped her off the ceiling " Sounds like a lot of fun

Especially so since it was on former church land. And perhaps one of th reasons the council couldn't excavate.

"Unfortunately it is still illegal. Especially so since it was on former church land. And perhaps one of the reasons the council couldn't excavate. " As I said - it was abroad. The local council didn't give a toss; they didn't want any delays with the erecting of the new hospital. Excavating the site would have taken many months. I just jumped in one of the freshly dug trenches and spotted the back of the skull sticking out of the wall. So however many other skellingtons were buried there, their resting place was severely disturbed by the new building and most will have been smashed. At least I treat Harry with reverence. I asked the Museum of Antiquities how to preserve him properly. He looks well for his age.
