Adult Filtering

So this week the lovely people at 3 decided to put adult filtering back on my phone meaning I couldn't access fab or fet.

So I rang them and explained very politely that I wanted to access adult sites and that because I was 27 (I said that a few times on the phone) the lovely man in Asia asked me very politely what websites I was trying to access - so through extreme embarrassment I had to spell out f a b s w i n g e r s dot com and then the same for fetlife. The poor guy on the phone was as mortified as me and did manage to resolve the issue.

Anyone else had dealings with with mobile phone networks - and please tell me it was as embarrassing as mine!

They blocked access on mine too but I got round it by using my sky broadband which of course is useless when out of the house but I used to go in through internet history when out and it took me in. I did nothing and have access again now

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

I rang up mine, said I wanted adult filtering off, they said OK and it was off within a day. Why do they need to know the sites you visit?

had to do the same with Virgin. Luckily got the UK call centre and wasn't asked what sites I wanted to access.

O2 had a glitch this summer and i had adult filtering put back on every day at 10am. I rang and it was off again by 11, just to be in place again the next

Even though i have two contracts with O2, because i no longer have a credit card they refuse to take the filtering off my ipad unless i drive 40 mile round trip to nearest store with id

I just downloaded puffin and bypass safari.... Problem solved

It happened to a lot of people on 3 network apparently, including myself. I just phoned them up and said i wanted it back again, it was sorted out within a couple hours.

Mine does it sometimes. Restarting the phone cures it.

Orange/EE did the same to me last year. So I phoned them up but, they never asked what sites I wanted to visit. How rude!

There's no way you should have to say what you're looking at!! That's really bad. As an account holder they should only need your information. I got asked it and basically told them its none of your business what I'm looking at, establish my age and lift the block. I then had to make a card payment but they sorted it for me.

oh! Maybe the nice man in India wasn't so nice and was really taking notes for sites to look at later or he was deliberately embarrassing you. If it wouldn't just embraarss you again I'd say complain

I'm on giffgaff and unless I put my passport details in (which are in my maiden name so won't work) I can't get filtering off so I can only get on fab if I'm at home!

Same here. Have never had to tell O2 what sites i visit when asking for filtering to be removed.

I had a similar problem with O2, though mine only happened once every month or so. They always fixed it within a few hours and gave me a discount on my tariff for the inconvenience. If they'd asked me what sites I'd been trying to view I'd have told them where to go.

He said he wanted to know whether it was both adult sites I was trying to access or whether it was just one. Hence asking me about what sites I was trying to access. I really was mortified.

I did it on my 3 account online. Didn't need to speak to them at all.

It's happened once or twice since then, telling me adult content is filtered but switching the phone off and back on seems to re-set it.

Oh... and something else that seems to be blocked by 3's adult content is Skype... so if I did need to speak to them that's all I would need to tell them I was trying to access

they shouldn't need to ask you...

if they ask you what site you were trying to access.... just tell them that it is a betting website (as they come under the same filter)

god bless paddy power......

Weird Orange did the same to me last week, I called up and when they asked what sites I just said "18+ adult content" they sorted it in a few mins. It's happened a few times, they're set safeguard settings with my requesting it.....I was very stroppy with the men I spoke to.

Ah the wonderful three call centre in India....they are useless and rarely understand what you're asking them to do. They are the main reason why I cancelled my contract

I have the same issue with giffgaff, the way around it is to download opera mini browser, can access adult sites through that as its a proxy browser

Recently changed from o2 to Three. Had to ask for the adult content restriction to be lifted. Took 24 hours.

Then I had to speak to Three again to transfer my existing number with Pac code I'd asked o2 for. Once this happened a few days later the adult restrictions were once again in place....so had to go through the whole process again to have restrictions lifted.

You would have thought the account settings would have been transferred to the new number....another 24 hour wait.

There is no reason they should have to know what sites you want to go on at all. More thanlikely a nosey employee rather than ccompany policy.

Yes, orange! There was no warning they were going to do it! I called their very unhelpful call centre in India with no joy, so went into the store in the city centre. The very nice young man fixed it for me, although he was a tad red faced not me
