Sex Box's ... good idea or not ?

Switzerland is rolling out their newest national development and it's not what you'd think. The progressive country has instituted experimental drive-in "sex boxes" for their legal prostitution business. Specifically, wooden garages intended to provide shelter for hookers and johns.

Rather than turning a blind eye and insisting it shouldn't exist, Zurich carved out a budget of $2.4 million francs to create the sex boxes and another $700,000 a year to keep them up and running. This is in hopes of keeping the women from having sex with the men in cars, where they are vulnerable to violence and robbery. 

And the facilities don't just provide a discreet place for the men, but refuge for the prostitutes. On the driver's side, the boxes are very narrow, making it difficult for him to get out of the car. On the passenger side, there is plenty of space, an alarm button and an emergency exit. There are also safe-sex reminders: "There is a big HIV prevention advertisement right in front of the car, so the driver has to look at a condom, to remind him he should wear one," the city authorities say.

And there are very strict rules: "Just one man per car, no bikes or motorcycles, no filming, and of course no littering."

There is also a set of Portakabins where counsellors are on hand, together with a kitchen, toilets and a shower. The new regulations also require prostitutes to purchase a daily sex workers license for a nominal fee, and have health insurance.

Not a bad idea, they'll always be prostitutes no matter how illegal you make it. Better to make sure there safe I say

That's a good idea! Any scheme that aims to protect women and make then safer is to be encouraged.

Was just thinking that maybe some men, especially married men would be put off from being seen driving in and out

I guess so, maybe thats the plan though. Stop custom so they stop prostitution

If the wives are seen hanging around they might get propositioned too

The aim is for these boxes to be built on "business parks" and non residential areas ....

So there's supposed to be some discretion
