Both look awful in my opinion. So many tv "personalities" trying to hide their near baldness. John Humphreys on Mastermind looks ridiculous stretching out what little hair he has. Looks like a bloody candyfloss.

I guess as long as the person feels less inhibited by their attempts to maintain an appearance closer to their own choice I‘m happy for them ……

After-all we cant all be 100% comfortable with the nature takes it's toll on us as we age…..

Is a combover worse than a wig?

Maybe we should ask Donald Trump.

It's a good point you make. But surely they realise people will snigger behind their backs. It's pretty common for people to take the mick out of both "hairstyles" so they can't be unaware of that.

i started going bald when i was 18!

so i just started shaving it all off, long before it was trendy to shave the head lol.

i would not be caught dead wearing a wig or doing a combover , they are just rediculous

As soon as I start going thin up top I'm just going to shave it all off.

Absolutely and that makes for an interesting conundrum ,,, whereby it would seem very odd these people have a mental resolve of much greater strength to put up with the sniggers over the insecurity suggested by their less than effective efforts to cover up areas of their appearance that cause them angst…

Oh and as Onny rightly identified….. Donald Trumps hair truly does deserve it’s very own WTF sign…..

You can say a lot of things about Trump but he ain't poor. It's not as if he can't afford a decent looking solution.

As terrible as they do look, older people might consider that they look/feel more self conscious/twatty with a shaved head.

Hey, remember the Hamlet cigar guy? Rab C. Nesbitt? (Happiness is a cigar called Hemlet). He rocked a combover LOL

I guess people get self conscious and are so desperate that they believe wigs or comb overs are better than being bald.

Its a shame that middle aged men are seen as some target for ridicule by many. Life takes its toll, and yes we all can look after ourselves but somethings are beyond control ?

Must be hard for those pelt to feel that they have to do it to avoid ridicule for something they can't stop anyway ?

I've still got a reasonably full head of hair, but because I tend to wear it in what some people might rightly describe as long dishevelled style, I'm often asked if it's a wig...

somewhere

I have a wig.....due to loss of hair during chemo. In 7 mths ive worn it once, it looks odd and I was far more self conscience when I had it on. I tried on so many during my search.... I went bald, I get far more odd looks now its growing back.

In my experience, it'll grow back thicker and stronger.
