Firstly I know this isn't really the place to ask advice on relationships as its more of a swinging/sex site with plenty of jokes in between. Also I thought there's no harm in asking so here I am. Anyway my question is for the ladies mainly and it is:

How can you tell if a guy is asking you out on a date compared with asking you out as mate?

Secondly is one is for everyone and its how long after a relationship has ended should you wait before jumping into another one as even though you're officially single. Surely if you jump straight in it may be a rebound thing, even if you don't think it at the time?

if asking out as a mate, you would know each other first as mates, a date would be someone you wanted to get to know in an intimate way

12 months between relationships is a good guide, 2 days between sex dates

First one - surely it comes down to communication?

Second one - when it feels right. There is no right and wrong answer

London

If a male friend says: got a spare ticket to footy, do ya fancy it? Mate. If a male friend gets tongue tied, fidgets and asks if he could take me to dinner: date.

We're all individuals: what works for me won't for you. Personally I avoid like the plague any profile with "just out of a relationship". Experience has taught me it'll be a shit meet, even though it will be over coffee!

What about if they are good/long term acquaintances?

Basically I know someone who came out of a relationship about 2 weeks back and they are entering another one.

healing takes tim,e and it is so easy to transfer the past relationship ahead to the new one, of course different for everyone, as are reasons for breaking up.

Dating... Simple. ASK!

As for timeline to dating again after a failed relationship... There is NO right or wrong time, It's when it feels right for both involved!

So if I came up to you and said "fancy coming for a drink tonight"? That sound like an invite as a mate or romantically? How can you tell the difference?

If you were my mate already I'd probably just think you were asking as a mate. But then I've had friends that have progressed naturally into dating before when it just felt right for us both.

I must admit that I have never thought that I was being asked on a date when a mate has asked me to the pub. I'm failing to see why you would jump to that conclusion.

The Town by The Cross

If he says ...... Fancy going on a date? its a date.

If he says ...... I'm attracted to you-love to chat and see how we get on. it's a date.

If he says - Jesus ..... I'd love to knock a slice of you. Date.

If he says ..... I'm bored. Let's shoot down the pub you can get me a pint. Mate.

Don't ask amibiguous questions.

If you want a date say....... I'd like to TAKE you for a few drinks tonight. ( smile and look a bit coy like you don't want to be rejected. It doesn't matter if you are an arrogant git just look like you're about to be crushed with a no )

If you want a mate say ....... Fancy a bevvy tonight. I'm bored of being stuck in. If not I'll go for one on me own then read. ( body language and face sort of indifferent and shruggy )
