Starstruck

Having spent the day at Tutbury Castle for a fairy tale themed day out and seeing my daughter flabbergasted by the vast amount of characters there from Disney Films or Fairy tales.. it got me wondering have you ever been star struck?

Btw if you have children and live in the Staffordshire area seriously for £6 per adult its a bargain of a day out

I love it when kids get all starstruck and in awe of stuff like that.

I went to a concert to see my favourite singer when I was 15 and I was rooted to the spot in excitement because he was there in front of me in real life.

Yes twice.

First time standing a few foot away from Adam Ant - me and my mate were somewhat taken aback. Second time was at a gig in London a few years ago, loads of people from the punk era, Mick Jones, Feargal Sharkey, Bob Geldof, Wayne Kramer all stood near me and I got starstruck by The Clash's old tour manager Johnny green and was too nervous to go and speak to him about the cycling book he'd written.

Im so gonna lose all 'street cred' for admitting this...

Claire & H from steps at a Blue Peter road show back in 2006

I was a massive Steps fan, cried when they split and i saw them in a car after the show on stage eating a burger..

Met plenty of famous people and "celebs" working in tv and theatre. Most of them are absolute twerps when you cross them in their own worlds.

Bruce Dickinson, Eddie Izzard, Sinbad from Brookie and Christopher Eccleston were so much more ordinary and down to earth.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I don't generally get starstruck. I will quietly point out people to those I am with (Anne Reid and Derek Jacobi at the same hotel I was at in Manchester and my friend only knew Jacobi when I said he did In The Night Garden ).

However, standing right next to John Craven a couple of years ago at Children in Need and I got all shy and tongue-tied and couldn't say hello.

Out on a training ride back in the 90's out in the middle of the countryside round Rainford, when Joey McLoughlin rides up along side me we chat for a few miles and off he rides.

Hugged Peter Andre once when he came to visit the NSPCC centre I worked in. He was an ambassador for us and came to see the facilities.

Genuine decent guy.
