Went there yesterday. What's happened to the beach??!

When did it become ok to leave all of your rubbish on the beach? Dirty nappies and all? When did that all become someone elses job?

This country....... (shakes head, walks away)

You should see Brighton beach on a Saturday and Sunday morning. It's littered, not only with rubbish but also unconscious people!

Agreed, litter and graffiti are top of my pet hate list (perhaps I need to get out more).

I don't think its a case of getting out more, I think its about being a conscientious citizen, when I go out, if I don't spot a litter bin, I take my rubbish home with me.

No point going out, everywheres covered in crap! I can cope with d*unks and associated litter, but when it's families teaching the next generation that it's ok just to drop it where you're standing I despair!

I live there and one thing I will say is the council do an amazing job of clearing up. There always seems to be either men or the road sweeper about no matter what time I go along the front.

I wss there a couple of weeks ago and thought the same thing. The bit of beach we were on was just one big ashtray. But it's not just Southend, it's everywhere. People leave their rubbish all over it's disgusting. This country will just be one big rubbish dump.

I saw a kid once throwing pebbles at the sea gulls. He was hitting them too. So I shouted to stop it and his dad piped up saying don't talk my boy like that. (TBF I was pretty assertive). Cue altercation with the dad, and finally the family walking on with the dad saying to his boy "don't throw stones at the birds".

I afforded myself a wry smirk.

Completely different but I thought I'd add it anyway

Southwick

I used to believe the UK was a relatively litter free country having travelled abroad and seen places that were far worse.

The UK has now caught up in that particular league table.

Was starting to get like that in the 80's....so I left and never went back....sounds like it has got worse since it got better

Not sure why people don't care ... I hate to see it myself and I think I would say something .. in the country KFC boxes and crap all over the road .. I stopped and picked it all up as near my home .. and new it would just end up blowing away no telling where ..so yes I hate it when people just dump rubbish.
