I just read a thread where someone gave advice (to a single guy, but this may apply to all I don't know) stating "always send pictures with your initial message".

Now I never do this, I have pictures on my profile so I assume that people have a look at them. It always confused me a bit why people would send you a message, and then send you the same photos that are in public view on there profile!?!

Am I missing a trick here?

Are there people out there that will judge you based on just a message and your avatar?

Should I even care if the person in question can't be arsed to click their mouse one more time to find out?

Any views welcome...

cheers guv, but actually now that I see a wee question in your question, I'd say that if the message is shite, I'll not bother with the pic - I don't even do the scrolly thing to see it at the bottom of the page If it's a suitably insane message which suggests a ravin lunatic sent it, I'll squint a bit and possibly scroll down, or 'click' the profile thingie to see what's what. Then I'll stalk said persons for at least 3 hours, before donning my night goggles etc for a proper stalking and once viewed in their normal surroundings I'll ask to see their cam.

It's a much easier way to flush out timewasters.

Not everyone has pictures in their public gallery though, and some that do don't include faces, personally speaking if we seen a profile showing faces that interested us, we'd attach face pictures to our message if we decided to contact them.

Profiles wise though all tell a tail, mine is a little different from some but its a reflection of a small part of me. But i am a Yorkshireman and we are all a little different lol.

So are you saying that maybe because many people have face pics in private, that most might presume (perhaps rightly so) that I'm not likely to have any on mine, and therefore won't look?

They do to a point, but in general, they're a load of shite. I figure you find out fairly quickly whether someone's yer cup of tea in here, or in chat. But each to their own, as would seem to be the alleged way of it in these here forums

Not wishing to patronise so please do not take it that way.

Select the profile you like and then read the profile thoroughly, then read it thoroughly again as all the clues you need will be in there, and the occasional codeword as well.

Some profiles will ask for a simple one liner or even a wink whilst others will demand a more personal and in depth approach.............DO NOT FUCK THAT BIT UP or it's straight in the bin for your pm.

As regards pics you have just had a top tip, including a tasteful one cannot do you any harm and may well do lots to improve your chances.

At the end of the day send what you are comfy with and keep your fingers crossed for success

He he he on a fickle day I have in the past been known to change it a couple of times in a day just for the fun of it. Depends how board I am at work. But yep there are some poor profiles on here along wit a few brilliant ones. And yep far easier to figure out who will grate or not early on. I have done hasty meets before that make me shudder thinking back. Me I would far prefer someone to discount me before meeting up as I know I am far from everyone’s tipple.

I never make first contact and certainly do not send photos on first response.

If after a couple of messages I feel we are likely to meet then I send a face pic - if I wanted all and sundry to gaze in amazement at my beautiful visage it would be on public display not in my private gallery.

Very few are going to meet everyone that contacts them - personally I like to err on the side of discretion until I'm sure of meeting - and I never send pictures to someone who doesn't have any on theirs!

Not taken as such but just wanted to point out that I haven't complianed about a lack of replies at any point, I'm sure you know I've been here long enough for that by now. You may however not know me well enough to know I always read every inch of a profile fully (quite often more than once), and always have.... but if anyone else reads it and takes heed then it was worth writing.

As regards to your point on photos 'it can't do any harm' is perhaps what I should be thinking. Just didn't think it was necessary before!

My personal take on this is that, if you have pics already in your profile, and have a pic as an avatar, then no.

Nosey people like me will click to view the sender's profile and see the pics for themselves.

However, if you do not have any pics at all, then yes.

Certainly not, in fact we look at the actual profile before opening the message,and i'm sure we're not alone, so in your case it would be pointless attaching pics you already have public, but like was said, not all people do.

I sometimes send a pic or 2 to someone I have little intention of meeting - IF I have been speaking to them thru the forums and then in pm so they know who they are chatting to. But mostly I only send pics to someone I intend to meet soon.

I dont really see the point of sending the same pics I have in the public gallery since I assume people are like me (nosy) and will look if I send out a message, I dont request face pics either since if I am going to be meeting them for a coffee I prefer to see them via webcam while chatting cos then I get a better sense of who they are and if we will get on.
