Another that also sticks in my mind is General Zod from Superman II. Only as I saw it many times when I was younger.

Hardy as Bane had a real menace in the film. Very understated which worked really well.

But for showmanship Nicholson's Joker and Devito's Penguin.

But then again I love Batman!!
