I've just had a call this evening from a friend of mine.. she thinks her partner of 6 months is cheating because he came home and brought her flowers...

I feel sorry for him...and I told her I'd have loved it..

but she is adamant he must be cheating...

So ladies, do you 2nd guess a guys intentions if he buys you flowers.... ?

The only time I have ever received flowers from a guy was because he was sucking up due to being a dick. Had nothing to do with cheating though, he'd just been a massive dick.

If there's somebody else's name in the card - that's a bad sign.

Only had flowers once.. they were stunning.

My attitude and behaviour was shocking.. very immature and ruined a beautiful surprise

no good deed ever goes unpunished for long.

It's fairly natural to want to bring home flowers as a surprise every once in a while, not as routine, but just because. If that's going to lead to suspicion and difficulty then that's going to lead to the break up of what had seemed a good relationship.

In my humble opinion

Every now and the I buy my girlfriend flowers. I usually get them sent to the house. Makes a very nice surprise and brightens up my girlfriends day. Tell your friend not all men are up to no good when they buy flower. Some of us like to treat our better halves

what!!!!

So many of you never or have rarely received flowers!!!

I knew I was doing something wrong.

Should I give up with the champagne and the chocolates with the non fattening centres?

Steve buys me flowers - i've never thought it was because he had a guilty conscience - there must be more to this story than meets the eye, Z

Id say she should jump to conclusions, he might just be showing his love and affection.

My ex bought me a plant instead of flowers once because he thought it would blast longer. Who said romance was dead . Hence the ex. I'm ungrateful I know.

Have been given flowers once in my life

However they weren't mean't in a 'gift' sense - were actually for a photo shoot that never happened (though i did use one for a picture i did myself! )

I have had 2 flower shops for 30 yrs and have seen the lot,

Valentines day, 2 local rugby players come in, send dozen long stemmed roses to their girlfriend, this feb, they were £85 a doz, and sent a single red rose to their wife, £10 inc delivery.

many years ago 40 ish, my dad bought my mother a bunch of blown ( past it tulips ) she went mad, hit him over the head with the frying pan, swore he was having an affair, that was the first and last time he bothered. they stayed together for 50 yrs until death, but never loved each other, she said it was a need based relationship.

An ex used to buy me flowers regularly when he worked away (every 2-3 weeks), always sent to work & always the same bunch.. It became a calling card and a sign of when to expect him home. I loved it, he knew it, and it encouraged him to do it every time without fail

I think the key is to accept and know when someone is being nice. Brits aren't too good at accepting a compliment or random show of affection!

It does sound a little like your friend may have some kind of trust issue or has been shit on in a previous relationship? Maybe that is why she is suspicious?

I've only ever had flowers delivered once - and to this day I still don't know who sent them. But they were gorgeous!
