Thank god for brakes.

They were idiots but it has given you the experience that once you pass, you will deal with many times.

Keep going and good luck.

Just take a deep breath, get back in the car and go drive the same piece of road again. Once you've done that, your confidence will take a boost and you'll be fine.

Oh, and learn to read numberplates in the mirror...next time you'll be ready for them

So, you met a couple of twats in a mini - You did not hit anyone or anything, you braked as hard as necessary, and stopped.

You should be proud of yourself, 'cos you dealt with it OK.

Also bear in mind, this will not often happen, don't sweat it.

What is wrong with these people! You coped with it and didn't actually hit the bread van so if anything it should increase your confidence in my opinion. One day soon you will be driving confidently along and those silly little boys will probably have lost their licences. Keep at it

I can't remember the pony on a string no....do tell was it driving a mini in a reckless fashion?

Seriously driving does involve moments like this and it does shake you up but most road users are courteous and patient

In time you will get to know the areas that seem to collect the mad drivers or recognise the signs and deal with them.

You did well with something unexpected so many just freeze in panic.

Theyre not just idiots on the road either, the BBC reported the other day that a young lady driver, gave her name too, faces prosecution for deliberately driving into and knocking a pedestrian off of his bike. The reason, she paid road tax and he didn't, as she all too happily bragged on Facebook/Twitter or so.

Permanent loss of licence required?

Try not to worry honestly,I had some right knob ends try and spoil it for me,long story but the instructor ended the test there and then,I got the next test free as it was no fault of mine.

Keep at it and don't let the idiots spoil your confidence, just think of all the things you can do when you pass. Good luck and keep smiling.x

Actually they knocked a cylict off their bike not a pedestrian... Anmd it's a little more complex than that and this thread isn't the place to debate it.

Not sure how a motorist knocking a cyclist off doesn't constitute being an idiot on the road either.

This.

OP, be proud how you reacted. Sadly idiots are a fact of life when driving but you do learn to pre-empt them at least to a degree.

I learned to drive 15 years ago and still remember what it was like. If I find myself anwhere near a learner, I give them an even wider berth than I would a passed driver. They might well have dual control, but they don't have dual steering. Aside from the wankers who were taunting the OP, the other gits are the ones without an ounce of patience. Calm down, and if you think you could actually physically intimidate them, try that. It scares the shit out of them, when you stop the car and get out.

Christ ..... Don't do this .... It's called road rage and gets people killed or at the very least arrested for threatening behaviour.

Any advanced driver will tell you to :-

Give the idiots room to do what they want to do , particularly as you don't want to die or kill anyone elese , as they will - quite soon.

"No problem, now you have learned how to deal with spoilers. Next lesson, AUDI DRIVERS "

That's being a little stereotypical but I'll continue that as Audi drivers have also been voted to be the sexiest How they figured that one out I don't know and I didn't notice any physical changes to my body on purchasing one either so I'm still waiting for the sexy bit to happen.

There are idiots everywhere in life. As your confidence grows as you do more lessons you will start picking up on things quicker. Observation is the key but at first when learning it is hard to take everything in as well as concentrating on doing everything in the correct order etc.

Once you've passed your test you could always take some more advanced driving lessons. I found on bikes that whilst the test gets you your license doing some advanced riding with the local plod really opens your eyes to things.

As others have said you handled the situation and didn't hit anything and remained in control of your vehicle so whilst you may feel a little knocked back look at the positives of the outcome of that situation. Even if someone is sitting right on your bumper behind you try not to let that stress you, just increase your safety gap slightly. Whilst this may be weird when doing my driving lessons I used to tell the instructor why I was doing something or pointing out hazards I'd seen. This not only helped me but he really liked this as he then knew what I could see was going on rather than having to second guess. It was a little different for me however as I'd ridden motorbikes for several years before learning to drive.

Costa Blanca Spain...

Our experience is that 9 out of 10 impatient lunatics on the roads of Britain, Germany, Holland, and Spain are Audi drivers, dropping to maybe 7 out of 10 in France, only because they buy more Renaults and Citroens there.

When we see a slow, courteous, or sensible Audi driver we comment to each other "He went to the wrong garage"

Sorry to hear that you bought one but they do tend to come with the mark of Cain, for very good reason.

Audis do tend to attract more than their fair share of nobbers. Junction I use a lot there is a correct way to use and wrong way...Audis and BMWs nearly always use it the wrong way closely followed by VWs and Astras. Sorry if it offends but it is what I see

No offence taken here. I've seen muppets driving / riding all makes of vehicles. I would assume that a lot of rep mobiles may be Audi, BMW or VW so that will explain a fair amount as when a vehicle isn't really your own you don't quite care about it the same amount. The other thought maybe is the German made cars outlasting all the other brands thus there are more of these in the 2nd hand market falling into the wrong kind of hands?

I knew the stigma an Audi comes with an Audi and funnily enough the other car on my shopping list would have been a BMW. They are very well made cars though and I'm hoping mine will last me for some time!

I attach no 'stigma' whatsoever in any way shape or form to any driver of any particular marque..

especially when that is loosely based on the opinion of folk on an internet forum..

hardly a scientifically tested fact is it..?

there are good and bad in all ages, genders, professions who drive whatever..

size means jack shit when some 'boy racer' is a 5th dan, carrying a blade or a handgun..

You can also make it obvious you are taking a photo of there car and reg. Hardly aggressive, but it puts the frighteners on them.

It might be a good idea for driving schools to mount cameras front and back. I bet there would be a lot of explaining to do by some of the mobile ratboys.
