"The exercise is going to be hard but the reduction in calories is going to be a killer How do other people cope with suddenly cutting their food by almost half? " Assuming that your calorie intake was circa 2000 calories per day to begin with, if you're increasing your exercise rate and calorie burn why would you need to drastically cut your calorie intake - unless your looking for crash weight loss?

"I've had to cut my calorie intake to 1000 a day to shrink my liver. First 3 days was a killer but been doing it nearly 2=weeks and settled unto it. Only cause I can't have my op if it hasn't shrunk enough" Well done and good luck. Hope it all goes well for you x

"Im going to need to figure out what to eat with a lot more bulk to it if it makes sense than that but its going to be hard But congrats on making it, i hope i can " How many calories has he told you to have per day? I go to weight watchers so count points not calories. I bulk my meals up with salads and veg and snack on fruit - although I know they have calories. Well done and good luck

"What kinda things do you eat on 1000?" Thing is your PT should be doing your meal plan tailored to your workouts and vice-versa. Otherwise it's defunct.

That was exactly my thought. Particularly as from another post it doesn't appear they are giving dietery advice. What are your PT's credentials? Do they know about weightloss? Or is he just a one dimensional gym bunny who's training advice will be restricted by their knowledge.

"I would suggest to stay away from processed foods because of the hidden sugars, carbs, salt etc. Eat fresh whenever possible. I agree with what others say. If you are only eating 1350 a day and exercising on top that really isn't a lot for your body to use on just living!! Did your trainer explain how the exercise takes off some of the calories you eat? Myfitnesspal is a good app to use for logging food and for logging any exercise you do to help you track your calorie intake each day. " Thats what ive been using today so im going to ask him about the way exercise boosts my cals on there. But i think he really wants me just eating 1350 only regardless of what i do. I have my next session on thursday, but have a couple of gym classes in between

Ive watched him train others for a while and he is good. If its not enough food i will tell him and it will have to be adjusted. The hard part will be cutting out the sugars. Will go to marks and spencer tomorrow to stock up on fruits and such and lots of bottled water Much nicer than asda ones and i HATE tap water

"Basic metabolic rate isn't 2000 cals for everyone. I am 5'10 and pretty big build and still need to eat 1500 to lose weight, so its not unlikely that a smaller woman would be asked to eat 1350, especially at the beginning to give your metabolism a good kick. The concern would be the diabetes, which is why a quick visit to the doctor would be good." Thats what he was working out this morning. It was going to be 1300 to start with but i think i will go see my diabetic nurse and run everything past her once i have my plan. Thank you all for your advice

"Be careful of fruits as they are very high in sugars. Probably teaching you to suck eggs I know lol Berries are the best fruits for diabetics. Particularly blueberries. Olives are a good snack as they are very low carb. As are picked onions etc" I love pickled onions so thats a good one. And baby tomatos, but your right, some fruit is super high in sugar. Its going to be a juggling act i think Ive never liked olives but maybe its worth another try

Reducing carbs and sugary foods should help without too much heartache. Calories counting can actually make you hungrier! Eggs are good by the way. 100 cals per egg, and very good for you.

"my doc said I should have 600 cals a day my gp said that was too extreme im confused" does sound extreme I would say 1000 would be best. I think 600 is just for a quick fix for a week or 2 but not healthy
