Actually, now the 'lipid hypothesis' has been disproved, lard is considered healthier than vegetable oils. Ancel Keyes fiddled his results.

Look up paleo diet.

Make sure you have some proper butter else it will spoil the meal.

Funny thing is we're having Ham, Eggs and home made deep fried chips for dinner tonight.

I always twice cook my chips.

Search for Hairy Bikers on the BBC food website.

We use either Corn or Veg oil, even going to do a deep fried Mars bar

Mrs will love it when she gets home and sees what's for dinner.

She just doesn't know that she'll be desert

Personally I think twice cooking them makes them tastier, especially if you coat them with cornflour when they go in for the second time.

Just wish I had some newspaper to wrap them up in

Watched a program the other week where a chef parboiled the chips and then fried them twice in duck fat, made with rooster potatoes and they looked lush.

Beef dripping. Best for chips, as used by award winning chippies.

I know but as we are normally healthy eaters we dont have full fat butter in, I had forgotten we even had a chip fryer and made a special journey to asda for the oil !!
