My mum and extended family, nans aunts!

My mum was very strict, we wasn't allowed to talk at the table!

I often had a fork wrapped across my knuckles

My parents but moreso my paternal grandmother, she's a stickler for etiquette and properness. I'm sure she thinks I'm pure and virginal

For me my gran when I stopped at hers as a 4yr old she taught me the lot a sight stickler for the right fork,knife and spoon she was.

I dunno. I think my mum probably did.. kinda got pissed at me smearing chocolate all over my face.

It defo wasn't my Dad..cos he still smears it all over his face.

Equally I dunno who taught me to wipe my own arse either..cos if you think about it, nobody really teaches anyone how to do that..

Good topic

My mum made a big deal of being a 'silver service waitress' - though ironically she was so busy working we never got to eat meals around a table.

With our own children we've been strict in a non anal kind of a way about manners at the table - really ticks me off when other kids get up and wonder about willy nilly during a meal.

But we let them occasionally use the soup spoon for trifle without comment

My dear old nanna, I now teach my children the same manners that I was taught, and do you know I get funny looks for telling them to take their elbows of the table, strange how things have turned around.

We definitely taught our children to wipe their arse - I can utterly understand (and hope) that they'll have forgotten having had the lessons though!

As for chocolate on the face I loved when they were babies how messy they'd get sometimes - well for the first couple of times!

I think it was a combination of my mum and my nan. No elbows on the table, use a knife and fork correctly, and the biggest one was us kids couldn't leave the table until we had eaten all our dinner. I used to get annoyed with my sister because she was (and still is) the slowest eater in the world and I have always been a food vacuum!

Dont specifically remember learning. Just the way things were growing up.

Guess it was a combination of mum, dad, grandparents and nursery.

The dining room table was the first piece of furniture i bought when moving out and into my own place.
