If life is so short, why do we do so many things we don’t like and like so many things we don’t do?

I don't think life is too short. It's too bloody long to keep doing really tedious things.

My Buddhist Nun friend tells me to live in the now but plan for the future in the deeds that I do and the thoughts that I have.
