FabSwingers.com forum: what songs would you have?

my mum has asked me to think of some songs we could play at my brother's funeral, and it got me thinking. I know that I would have the following

good riddance - greenday

boulevard of broken dreams - greenday

you'll never walk alone.

but trying to choose good songs for someone else is hard, so I would be grateful for any suggestions

Not so much into religious ceremony these songs from my past would be ideal. I would much prefer people would sing those and smile than be sad .

Good choice....

Stern's my favourite guitarist by a country mile and that song reduced Mrs JFL to a blubbering wreck at Ronnie Scott's, so it was an easy decision

We had Good Riddance by Green Day at my nephew's funeral - he was learning it at the time he died so it seemed extra poignant.

At my dad's we chose 'May it be' by Enya and 'Time to say goodbye' by Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman.

Dust in the wind by Kansas is a beautiful song, got it earmarked for my funeral, but maybe a song that is special to the family or your brother would be better.

I think the best thing to do is look through his record/cd etc. collection and pick something personal to him. If he has an iPod (other brands are fine too) then check his most listened to songs for inspiration.

at my mothers funeral we had a singer, and she did songs by elaine paige, midnight, and one from phantom of opera I cant recall, none of us wanted to or felt like singing and it created the perfect atmosphere.
