I have decided to stop looking for meets for a while as I have gained quite a bit of weight and I'm going to go to the gym to build

Bigdon2

The sequel, this time it's sexier

Ill still be here with a sarcastic comment or three, just not meeting till I get back to my fitness level, and feel confident enough to be naked in front of polite citizens of fab land, and once there you will find me in the clubs, car parks, and bushes near you.

If you want to join me on my 8 week quest then pm me and I'll give you the details of my programme

"How tough is this 8 week quest? Oh and good luck "

I won't lie it's not easy, but nothing worth having/doing is its going to involve running, swimming, weight training, and plyometric circuits, like I said its not easy but it won't leave you so knackered that you won't be able to carry out normal day to day tasks

I'll just stick to going back to my Power Walking. Yours sounds far too hard for me. Good luck. Don't forget we need to see the 'after' pics

I'm on an 8 week plan too . I'd join you but I can't do plyometrics, which is a shame. I've bought a knee support today to see if it helps with my aerobics, but I'm still managing lots of cardio and weights, and will get some swimming in too.

Good luck. Lets hope in 8 weeks we are both more svelte than we are now.

Good on you, may I suggest you lean more towards the low impact exercises like swimming stationary bike and such, it's about working round an injury rather that letting an injury stop you

I tend towards HIIT on the crosstrainer for cardio, and swimming lengths. However squats are great for thighs and that's whats making my knee twinge.

There was a program on the tv last night which was about weight loss.

They were saying exercise, whilst having many benefits, weight loss was not one of them. Unless like an athlete you are going to do 1.5 to 2 hours a day every day.

It is apparently the bodies natural reaction to exercise is to rest afterwards thus on average the calories burnt remain the same.

No offense - but losing weight and toning up, is a permanent lifestyle and diet change, more than exercise.

Indeed, which is why I won't be stopping after my 8 weeks is up, but I have a holiday in 8 weeks so want to look better than I do now.

But exercise helps lose body fat and increase muscles mass, and between them it turns the body from a wobbly one to a pert one. It seems to work for me anyway, and its a mood enhancer too!

I really wish I had the willpower to embark on something......I try but I get easily bored of exercise in all its forms ...and then someone offers me a cake (or a glass of wine) and it all goes out the window!

I've just resided myself to the fact that I was was always destined to be the Michelin (wo)man!

Thats somewhat true, but if you dont fuel your body with the right nutrients properly in the first place, no amount of exercise will make up for a poor diet.

The 8 weeks is the kick start, after 8 weeks I will notice the difference in my size, shape and fitness, motivation enough I would say to keep pushing myself
