I use my phone for banking, paying bills online.

A while ago I downloaded A.V.G free security app and so far no problems. But I get inundated with offers to improve my security from other companies for a price

So does the old adage ' you get what you pay for ring true' ?

Yep, never had any problems with AVG, appears to do the job, one of the first things I install on a new computer. And I have it on my tablet and my phone.

Avg free is adequate for a mobile. Half the Ads are scammers click on them they say your infected and they will clean for a fee, or worse you pay for a useless security app that steals all your info !! http://www.which.co.uk/technology/phones/guides/mobile-phone-security/
