Deleting messages !

I just wondered what other peoples opinion is on this subject....... ?

After having taken the time to email someone who has caught your eye, is it just plain rude when they just delete it and don't reply ? Surely it really doesn't take much time to just say,

"Sorry guys, you are not our cup of tea. "

We will always take the time to reply to people who have taken the time to write us a message, even if they are not for us. Granted there are a lot of you that do, and most genuinely nice people never take offence. xxx

It really would'nt bother me

If I send a message and I get no reply I take it as a no thanks,I don't see it as that important really

I do the same to messages I get sometimes

Not rude at all. They never asked you to aol them. You can't dictate how they chose to use the site.

Some chose not to reply for fear of reprisal.

I'd prefer to receive a reply, even if it is nein danke.

I reply to almost all messages apart from the truly daft ones, where the urge to be sarcastic would just be overwhelming

I answer if I've been sent a decent message and if it's obvious that my profile has been read.

I will delete the one liners and those that send them out willy nilly to anyone who happens to be on line.

One of these days though I'll be a devil and say yes when someone who lives 150 miles away, asks for a bj at 3am

Not really fussed to be honest, just wondered what other people thought, as we do get tempted to do it ourselves sometimes, but don't want to come across as rude people !

i normally assume if the message is deleted instantly (or within a day), then i am not for those people. i would not dream of constantly messaging people just on the off chance.

Of course sometimes i will re message after a couple of months, especially if there is a change or maybe a meet up.

Maybe i am being too polite, lol.

Obviously we wouldn't dream of sending any more messages as its pretty clear they aren't interested if they just delete.

We have been away for a few years, and just wanted to see how the land lies on the subject. As we said, we just don't want to appear rude, as we are genuinely nice, friendly people ! x

What makes you think there is a chance of a meet up if a previous message has been deleted?

I don't get this. Is it just a message fettish thing or what? How can receiving lots of no thank yous be any better than just no replies?

I'd rather receive lots of yes please's, but a no thanks is better than your message just being deleted. I just feel that is rude. Politeness costs nothing.

This must be the zillionth time this has been asked this week!! (Not your fault OP's)

Apart from quoting the FAQ's again - cant be arsed, but go have a look - I'll just remind everyone that if you reply and at a later date adjust your message filters - anyone you've messaged will not be blocked from getting in touch, even if your changed filters block their age/sex etc.

This is a common reason people don't reply if uninterested!!

From the FAQs on this site:-

"It's not rude not to reply.

Some ladies and couples get hundreds of messages a day so it simply isn't possible for them to reply to everyone. If you don't get a response, you should assume they aren't interested. If you're getting a lot of "no-replies" then you should consider your profile and the messages you send. Are they giving the right message? Are you standing out from the thousands of other guys on here?"

Sending a reply means that we can't then filter OUT that person using the filter facility.

Sending a reply also triggers "why not", "please change your mind", "your loss", "you're ugly anyway" messages.

You're not entitled to a reply. That's just the way the site works.

When my filters are down I get far too many ridculous/rude/crude messages that don't even deserve a response, even just a no thanks. Not only that, but once you have replied to someone your response to them overrides any filters you do have so then you just have to block them when you start getting the 'oh but if you give me a chance I can change your mind' or the 'oh but why not? I can do whatever you want' messages.

When are people going to realise that a no response = a no thanks? It isn't rude and the FAQs on the site even say so and to take a no response as a not interested.

If you feel offended or feel that the person is being rude by not replying then you need to toughen up a bit. The site is NEVER going to change in that respect so just suck it up and move on. Concentrate on those who DO reply to your messages and forget about those who don't. You'll have so much more fun.

And if you are getting no responses at all then change tactic as to what you are messaging people or who you are messaging.

Preferences change sometimes, i always read the profile and will not send message if i am not their preference.

Crikey ! Wish we had never asked now. Lesson learnt !

To be honest, we do get plenty of positive responses, and are in no shortage of offers should we want to take them up, but just wondered if it appeared rude to just delete. Obviously not !

We understand it's a problem for single women, as from previous experience, we know a single girl profile literally gets bombarded with mail !

We will leave you all to it now ! Have fun..... xxx

Don't be sorry for asking, how else do you find the answer?

Good luck!

A reply whether its a yes or a no would be nice for me as I'm always having my messages deleted.

I know I'm not supposed to feel insulted when my messages get deleted but it does kind of knock my confidence back and slightly hurt my feelings when I find that my messages that I do try to make sound interesting are deleted.

Why would a no thank you not hurt your feelings? You say your feelings get hurt when they delete without reply. Surely a no thanks is just the same as no reply? They both mean they are not interested.
