"Cheers Doing the York100. Worried I haven't got enough miles in my legs thanks to work and cricket. But managed 60 miles last week with more ascent than the 100 mile will have. Was pretty tired but have been absolutely fine since. Plenty of flapjack, gels, willpower and luck required!" Just looked it up. 3274feet of ascent over 100miles means it shouldn't be monsterously hilly at all. I will say if you did that amount of ascent in a previous ride you'll be fine and you just have to pace yourself and keep on pedalling, hydrating and fuelling. I got through about 7 bottles on the one I did recently, its important to stay hydrated as well as fuelled. With that amount of ascent it should be a little easier on your feet too! I did my ride with my brother and he hadn't ridden a century before. Kinda threw him in the deep end a little as it had over 5500feet of ascent. His words on finishing were 'I'm never cycling again' One thing, I don't know if you'll get this but save the gels for later on. I find that as time passes I struggle more and more to chew / swallow food like flapjacks etc. This is when the gels come into their own | |||
