A Secret Hideaway In the caravan of love

Be honest

I should take better care of myself ,I eat way too much sweet stuff and processed food.

I'm trying to fix it. I have started exercising and eat more fruit and vegetables.

The words "like you should" I guess would exclude alcohol, cakes or any other not lean machine fodder so it has to be no. However I am healthier and fitter than 95% of the population so its a quandary.

I don't agree - I'd say it's a slippery slope in the opposite direction.

We eat healthy and excersise regularly

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

I eat as clean as I can, exercise, and my alcohol consumption has pretty much dropped to zero lately. I do smoke though, which I guess ruins all the other stuff, but I do enjoy it so much!

No, I've been very lazy lately and sadly put a little weight on (pounds not stones), got told off by the doctor as I have problems with my bloody pressure. So the fitness regime starts again now, something I'm not very keen on if the truth be known.

No I don't, eat far too much chocolate, back smoking and drinking coffee again thanks to the stress of the restructure we are going through at work and my own personal role being reduced

I'm a binge junkie , have my moments of eating healthy and too many moments of living off takeaways , sweets and more sweets !!! Fact of the matter is it will always be cheaper to eat junk food then eat healthy food on a day 2 day basis e.g. 5 portions of fruit and veg , high protein intake , eating 6 cooked small meals a day, hopefully one day it will be the exact opposite !!!! Yeah right and I'll win the lottery 10 times in a row ...lol

Tell me about it ...it's funny when they advise drinking 2 litres a day that " by the way you will be spending most if the day on the toilet , please bring reading material" ...lol

Nope, but whether I have the body of Jessica Ennis or Mama Cass it'll end up in the same place: six foot under!

I like to think I look after myself and have a decent balance on things. Don't smoke, rarely drink and cook most things from scratch.

Your body will get used to it if you keep it up. What you'll notice then though is how crap you feel when you're not properly hydrated. That is how you've been running yourself for all those years prior too. Ever since talking to someone who had kidney stones and the agony he went through peeing them out I make sure I keep my system flushed through! It's also key to be properly hydrated for exercise as well

Whilst true and the fact that any of the people here who exercise and live a healthy lifestyle could have a bodily defect inside I'd rather do what I can to ensure that the years I am above the ground I don't spend visiting the doctors / hospital with numerous issues that can be caused by an unhealthy lifestyle. That is a very short sighted comment you have made in my opinion.

julie birchill said she likes getting d*unk and she eats too much, she said we are going to die anyway and that she knew people who looked after themselves and they still died young and that worrying about dying is more likely to make it happen.

Whilst there may be some that only exercise and have a healthy lifestyle because they are worried that they will die young if they don't I suspect that it will be quite a low percentage. That thought doesn't even cross my mind. I do it for the reasons I said above, to hopefully mean I have as many trouble free years ahead of me as possible I know I'm going to die, that's just a fact of life. I could trip over today, smash my head and die. If you think like Julie then you may as well just give up now to be honest

I've changed my outlook on life, and am trying to change things around. Its working slowly, but the best thing is the buzz I get when people are noticing.

I'll never be skinny, I'll probably never loose all the flab, but I can run, play hockey and am generally healthy. That's all I ask for.

Oh totally. As long as they are happy doing what they are doing then go for it Can't deny someone being happy. I guess this whole situation is quite close to me as I have a close family member I've watched for years go through hell and back due to basically miss treating their body. It's sad to hear them now saying if they'd done this or done that and need to do this but will struggle because of that.

I do agree though you have to do whatever makes you happy in life.

A old schoolfriend lost her husband when he was 40. He cycled regularly had cycling weekends away and on one of these weekends, he just fell off his bike and died. He had clogged up arteries, was a non-smoker (not saying if you smoke its a cause), healthy eater and no idea anything was wrong with him. Left a wife, 3 kids and his parents. His dad was in his 70's, he got tested for the same condition, and nothing wrong with him. So what do we do - eat healthily and exercise or plod along doing some things that aren't good for us?

As I said some of us WILL have defects that naturally occur regardless of what we do, that's just how life is. However I choose not to use that as an excuse to not exercise or be healthy as it whilst I may have a defect I may not. Thus I will continue to do whatever I can to ensure I'll live as long as possible trouble free
