Newcastle and Gateshead

at work today discussing "sharknado" (don't ask!) any way got on the subject of the classic "mega-shark vs giant octopus" (again.. don't ask!!) and i said it starred Debbie Gibson all grown up...

to which people gave me a confused look and asked

"who's Debbie Gibson???"

so i say... debbie gibson, she was around the same time as tiffany.......

they then look at me and ask....

"who's tiffany???"

at that, I had to walk out of the room......

so have you ever been made to feel really old really quickly!!!!!

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

When my family ran a restaurant in the 90s we used to employ young waitresses. It was when I found out some of them were born in the early 80s I started realising I might be an old fart.

I remember them being precocious young teen wannabe pop idols spurred on by mass marketing hype rather than huge amounts of talent…

But then again, speaking as an ageing rocker, thats how I view most acts that don’t stand in front of 10,o00 watts of Marshall amplification thrusting a flying-vee from betwixt a pair of leather clad thighs ….. …

I'm only 33 and I keep reading all these memes that say stuff like Will Smith is now the same age Uncle Phil was when Fresh Prince started. And I'm like... SO???

Every decade is just another excuse not to act your age lol

South London

I went to the doctors a week or two ago to get my new pill prescription. The doctor said to me "have you considered a different form of contraception now that you're nearly 40?"

I looked at her and scowled "I AM 36! THAT IS NOT NEARLY 40!"

I am not worried about getting older or hitting 40, but don't make me get there sooner than I need to! Cheeky cow she was.

There were people who didn't know who Bruce Springsteen is the other day, then I saw him at 64 years old. Yep I'm older too, but I guess we don't get old by being stupid so be thankful for getting this far.

The trouble with a 13 year age gap is that I sometimes mention bands and crystal just gives me a blank look...

Torquay

I made them suffer at work last week by playing the whole box series of 'The Motown Story' from the first track to the last.....

By Wednesday some were even bringing in their own headphones to blank it out.

Please, don't anyone ask me who Richie Cordell is.

Going by yer detail Fabio, you'd be around 13 or 14 when Tiffany promoted her record via shopping malls, jumping up and down with her tits bouncing.

Teenage boners eh? who'd forget em.

Brighton - even Hove!

I spoke with this person once and said 'what did you do before you had a mobile?' and he looked confused and said, 'I've always had a mobile'

Fabio - i feel your pain!!

I just tried to explain to Fox who Tiffany was - and said she was around the same time as rick astley etc and was one of the "Stock Aitken & Waterman" artists!

The response - "Stock who and who?"

A friend of mine is an actress and in the opening credits they're driving through an estate with a banner up that says "Happy 30th Gramdma"

They saw it there and left it in for the filming
