It seems Tesco Extra is now trying to capture even more of their shoppers time and money by offering in-store Community Centre yoga classes….!.

Fucking lovely.....that means I got to avoid a load of bendy women with my trolley when all I want to do is get in and out as quick as possible

Tesco could'nt pay me enough to do a yoga class in the middle of a supermarket!

To me it just seems such a shame local community centres or yoga classes run by local people could potentially lose out on patronage because some corporate giant wants to further entrap the time an spending power of people who might otherwise have spent time enjoying what the rest of society offers outside the Tesco bubble….

Apparently they have too much floor space

They're looking at alternative uses for parts of their stores, including a lot of community activities, I'm sure it won't be in aisle 3 though

Seems like these big stores have killed off many local high streets and communities, and now want to fill their superstores with some of the facilities that they've helped to close down.

I wouldn't rush to Tesco for yoga, much as it's one of my passions (yoga, not tesco). Parking hassle, much too frenetic and doesn't hold the right associations for me. Yoga in the park, wilderness or beach etc would be so much nicer.

Guess they realise that if they pull enough people in, they'll also spend money shopping there etc. Plus stuff like yoga tends to be done at regular intervals, so guaranteed money at the tills. I'll give it a miss.

I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't get this idea from China. A venture into a country that they are now trying desperately to withdraw from as well as Japan and America.....

Most non working people can't afford it. Most working people can't spare the time.

I'm not sure if I want to limp around in my leotard for lettuce following a stretching session or fanny around after shopping while the fish fingers dribble away in the car boot .....

I'll let you know.

The sceptic in me finds the notion it’s somehow a community-based gesture to provide ways of keeping shoppers in their controlled environment a little hard to swallow…

It has nothing to do with community and everything to do with getting people inside their stores for longer

Well they could invest more in sourcing Fruit & Veg that is already ripe and not rock frigging hard all the time.
