"We used to always be playing out in the fields. Making up games with tennis balls and old tights, bits of elastic, tig, skipping. These days kids can't seem to amuse themselves for more than 5 minutes. Boredom is undervalued." Tennis ball in leg of tights, swing it side to side agin the wall n between your legs n over your head? I'm sure I posted about that once on here n got lots of You must have been away at the time Hopscotch grids chalked with white dog poo cos you didn't have any chalk, hill rolling...and as we got older - magic mushroom picking up the park and making into tea when our parents weren't around...oh and drying orange and banana peel on the radiators (if you had them) or behind the leccy fire as you were supposed to get high off smoking or eating them

The tennis ball in tights, whacking it against the wall. Maybe it's a bit of a regional thing. We never used white dog poo as chalk though.

"If kids run around in the fields and woods now they would be reported and end up with an ASBO! Even worse if they dare to draw on the pavements. If you see more than 3 children/young people together they get called a gang and not in the Famous Five sort of way. We've criminalised childhood. " Hardly.

" It would do as its dependant on what the dog eats and the length of time the poo has to dry out, cos dogs don't always eat as much bone as they used to there's less calcium, so feed an asylum seeker to your Rottie, let it crap in the sun, wait for a fortnight and see if the resulting stick of shit will do a half decent hopscotch grid

"I moved my kids north of the border and out of London so they could have a childhood like ours. Now the boys are 12 and 9, both have phones 'just in case' and go out to play all day. They take their bikes, golf clubs, go down the woods and by the stream, they come back with wet trousers on a regular basis, covered in mud, bumps and bruises from rough and tumble - and they love it!!!!!!!! " that's exactly how it should be for kids.Good for you.......
