It is an absolute joke. I grew up when all the max power type magazines all had half naked women on the front and hasn't done me any harm.

What about the women's magazines glorifying slim models and cosmetic surgery are they going to be made to cover. I can't really see it happening

Women's magazines / publications seem to do more damage than the so called Mags

I'm glad they haven't caved in to ridiculous demands. If the shops are that bothered about it they could put up dark plastic infront of where the mags will be so only the top of the mag is on view and put them higher up on the shelf. But they won't do that because that will cost them money.

Well one lads mag missed a trick there ... they couldve shoved it into a sealed brown package with the legend "BAG OF NUTS"

Actually I'm pleased that Nuts! has stood up to the Coop and told them, effectively, to shove their modesty bags where the sun don't shine.

Just seems to me we are slipping back well and truly into Victorian double standards - where 'gentlemen' kept their families in gentility and adherence to the morals of the day.... and then went out in the evening and shagged 13yr old prostitutes.

It has been suggested that the reason the Coop brought in this 'ruling' is because they didn't feel women should have to shop and have the covers of these mags 'thrust in their face' all the time. Now, can someone tell me how an A4 size magazine cover, of which only about 1/3rd is visible due to all the others on the stand, can be 'thrust in someones face all the time they are shopping' in a store of upwards of 10,000sq feet and 30,000 difference lines of merchandise????? Beats me...

The next stage will be telling people to wear modesty bags and cover up.

The women in lad's mags may not always be natural but they tend to look a lot healthier than those in women's mags who also tend not to be natural.

This will be good for lad's mags as I am sure they will see an increase in readership on the back of this and they have suffered a 90% decrease in sales over the last 10 years.

Maybe they should all be in plain brown bags so you cant see whats inside.

Then you can call them Lucky Bags - a copy of some random Lads mag, a sherbet dib-dab and a small plastic toy inside everyone!

the way women are portrayed in the media needs to change across the board but covering up "lads mags" wont bring this change about.

In this day and age of freely available smut and smut plus on the internet i'm surprised there is still a market for lads mags.

Also, as has been alluded to earlier, "women's" mags do far more long term harm, especially to those who are otherwise categorised as minors.
