Ruined picnic

I was at my local park with my friend and seven children when a lady quite far away let her dog off the lead. The dog came bounding over and literally hoovered up all of our sausage rolls, savoury eggs and covered everything in slobber. The lady didn't make an urgent attempt to stop her animal and took a slow stroll over, when she finally stopped her dog and apologized I told her that sorry didn't fix and our children were left without food. I asked her what she was going to do about it and she went off to the shops and kindly replaced our picnic. Can't help feeling I was a bit harsh, what do you think?

Good on the woman. Although she is a shit pet owner, she seems a decent human. I would have asked her to join the picnic.

my dog would do the same...he's a devil when there's food on the go, and he wouldn't of listened to me ... however...as placid a lump that he is...he would NEVER be off the lead when there is children about . You can't ever trust your dog with children .

I think that he shouldn't of been off the lead in a packed park, I was thankful that he attacked our picnic and not any of the children. She also let is slip that it wasn't the first time it had happened.

You were absolutely spot on. She should have kept her dog under better control. Good that she bought you replacement food too - at least she took responsibility for what her dog did.

Not harsh at all. The dog should never have been let loose in the first place

Good on her for replacing the food though

Somewhere near Coventry

She also let is slip that it wasn't the first time it had happened.

It must be costing her a small fortune replacing all the scoffed up picnics

lol, that's what I thought but then how many people would just say it's fine to avoid confrontation, I probably would have been easier on her had it not been for seven hungry little ones.

Glad she had the decency to replace your food, maybe now she's out of pocket this time she will think before releasing her dog again near picnickers.

Had similar happen to my family and friends when having a BBQ and picnic in a park in Edinburgh at the weekend, we had two well behaved dogs (staffies) with us who were happy to wait all day for tit-bits from us and the kids, but another man's dog ran over and hoovered up loads of food. He sauntered over, looked at everyone as if it was our fault and said not a word before walking off with his well stuffed dog!

Fortunately I was in the loo when it happened or he would have been wearing the only thing it left .... the salads.

Last family picnic my elder son scorched it with a cigarette so it's now the official picnic quilt.
