If these are as bad as we're told - and I suspect they may be worse - why are kids queuing up to join and post?

Surely if you're likely to get a verbal kicking there can be little attraction in joining / staying

Have you forgotten what it’s like to be a kid dealing with life insecurities?

It’s far easier to judge the merits of entering a potentially hostile environment with the mind of a mature adult whose got the benefit of hindsight and life experience….

But when you’re young it’s only natural to be effected by cruel accusations or taunts aimed at diminishing your self worth ….

But it seem wrong to blame a child for joining a site and then taking an active interest in what other people say about them whether those comments are good or bad….!.

Any young death is a tragedy and particularly so when they’ve chosen to die by their own hands simply because they couldn’t cope living in a world where some people lack morality or conscience…..

Bullying and trolling are vile practice’s……and although I fully support any attempts to reduce their effect , I fear sadly they will never be completely stopped …..

You certainly can't legislate for stupidity but most of us learned as very small children that if something hurts, like getting too close to the fire or falling off your tricycle, it's maybe best not to do that again.

If visiting trolling sites is uncomfortable (or worse) don't go back.

Yeah and in this ideal world where children’s minds evolve at a rate that doesn’t allow for repeated errors of judgement we can maybe all stop using sayings like “curiosity killed the cat”

I wonder if part of the attraction of the continual 'return visit' is an attempt to get your own back/ inflict some form of revenge on those who have done you down.

People seem incredibly keen to blame the websites whilst, in fact, they're just the method of communication.

Nobody, as far as I can see, blames Royal Mail for poisoned pen letters or blames Alexander Bain for spam faxes.

I think some people go back simply because it's human nature to want to hear what other people might be saying behind our backs.....

Maybe that's not the case for everyone....

But perhaps there’s enough who do, to allow for the exploitation of an inherent insecurity in those that sadly can't resist....

I see firms and charities are pulling their advertising from ask.

If ask was such a dreadful place, what were they doing advertising there in the first place?

Isn't even threatening to pull advertising just a different form of bullying?

Same or similar reason why the queues outside the latest horror movie is likely to be 90% teenagers. We've all been there - hit the teens and you want to anything you can behind Mum and Dad's back, be that little bit subversive, that little bit deceitful - it brings on a sort of adrenalin rush.

Problem with these sites is, I think anyway, is the kids get far too sucked into them before they realise they can't cope with what can happen to them on the inside.. and the problem is it's one area of growing up where their parents will have had no experience themselves as teenagers as the sites just didn't exist a generation ago.

Without this sounding the worst pun ever.... because they didn't 'ask'.

As far as they're concerned it's just a bit more exposure for what they want to advertise, or bully us into buying... depending on viewpoint...

While I'm sorry about the poor girl that took her own life, the parents that have lost a daughter in tragic circumstances, the fact remains that she was not under duress to log into the site........ As with all websites, showing all forms of content, if you don't like it or makes you uncomfortable don't visit it. Simples
