Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Monopoly, it takes hours and they have to read and add up.

It gets tedious but they seem to love it.

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

Lots of free srt galleries and museums. Take them out. Pack a lunch so you're not spending any money. Try the local library too.

It's what I used to do when I had no money.

little house on the praire

Lots of free things, not sure how old they are, but sometimes they have teddy bears picnics in the parks. The library is a good source of information. Can you still buy ispy books. Personally if its not raining I'd spend all day outside doing stuff and save indoor activities for bad weather

Make a time capsule, my mom had me dig her garden over a couple of years before she pased and I found a perfectly preserved copy of look in lol.

Or try brass rubbing but I guess it depends on how old they are

Go geocaching....You can download a free trial of the official app for iphone or cgeo version for android is free. Don't forget to take lots of little trinkets (think xmax cracker junk) so they can swap treasure

My grandkids love building dens, just give them a few old sheets or blankets and a some pegs and they'll create something, then play in for hours.

Hide & seek. You get them to hide, then site down and read the paper.... Great quality time with the kids... Everyone is a winner!

West Yorkshire

We like bug hunting in the garden. Going out for a walk with the intention of ending up a bit lost, even if it's in a city/residential area, walk down a road, get someone to choose which direction you go in, sooner or later you're somewhere new. Never know what you'll find - a hidden play area for example. I did this with my kids in the last holidays and we came across a beautiful huge park with a fantastic playground that I never knew was there! Though we really did get properly lost coming home lol
