You cannot imagine the frustration of dealing with these people. They don't listen. They refuse to put anything in writing and they contradict themselves.

I know someone who managed to get his farm goat to eat the guy's paperwork but that's not always practical.

Maybe the best way is to offer to shop a more serious offender.

I know what you mean about not writing and because of that I managed to get the VAT people to deregister .

Well, had a huge rebate due, they kept telling me that they had lost my paperwork etc etc...I even did the calculation for them to save them some time

.

.

after 8 weeks of hassling them and getting nowhere I just wrote them an official letter informing them that if my payment was not received within 14 days I would be raising a legal action for recovery.......cheque arrived within a week

I wish it was that easy, not sure what the limits are now for not having to be VAT registered

From what I remember from april you have to be vat registered if your turnover exceeds £79,000

HMRC think its a kind of joint.
