What qualifications do you have and do you use them in everyday life. I have numerous RSA,s at different levels mostly maths, English, shorthand and typing. Three a levels in sociology, pyscology, and English literature and I don't use any of them, oh and a masters degree in bullshit

I'm educated to gcse level, also did an AS Level, then I got a job, I've been on various training courses over the years though. I love learning, i keep meaning to take up something else at the nearby college but haven't got around to it. My AS Level was in Travel and Tourism, i wanted to go into that field but ended up doing something completely different. It did help me though, it covered all kinds of stuff, customer service, human resources, event organisation etc. Lover my college years

As of a week ago I have a 2:1 BA honours in primary education with Qualified Teacher Status.

So far in terms of everyday life it means I am qualified to get 'hi miss!' shouted at me by the kids I taught on placement

I've got A levels in geology, psychology and general studies and AS levels in biology, chemistry, English literature and English language.

11 GCSEs from A* to C grade.

Double A level in Health & Social Care (when i did this at 6th form i under took the exam with primary school teaching in mind, so only the Biology units applied to my current Job)

A level in Biology

NVQ level 3 in Health & Social Care

various Dementia and Palliative care courses..

Food Health & Hygiene level 2

First Aid level 2

At my current work place there is continuous 'In House' training.. which is either mandatory or is just really useful to the job role and interesting.

I love learning.

I'm too old to remember what I left school with but varying rsa and o levels in maths, English and the usual crap!!

Then I realised at 35 that education was important and got an 3 a level equivalent in acces to health and social care then a BSc in social work which I use everyday as I can't practice social work without it!!

What I will say though is I've got to 42 and I've never ever used bloody algebra!! What was the point of it

Officially have more letters after my name than in it - BSc, MBBS, MA, member of two Medical Colleges and a Certificate in Mathematics from the Open University (I was bored). Don't use the last one much!

Gosh, I ought to get out more..

But I've learnt far more through experience than through bookwork.

I know that but for a lot of jobs you have to do the qualification to be allowed to do the job, regardless of life experiences. It does worry me that some of the people who just finished the same course as me, couldn't plan a trip by public transport to save their life as they've always been chauffeured around by mummy and daddy (and guess who pays for their cars now), have no concept of money/budgeting and don't know how to boil an egg!

Totally agree. When I went for my current job 11 years ago there were four others being interviewed. All graduates! I was convinced I was only there as a token gesture but I got the job. I left school with 8 O levels and nothing else but I've done ok!

O Levels, ONC & HNC. Don't really use the HNC anymore as it was industry specific, but the O levels and ONC in Science have been invaluable.

Manchester

11 GCSE's

4 A levels (chemistry, physics, maths)

1 degree (physics)

1 masters degree (applied physics)

1 PhD (Astronomy)

Do I use them?.... Yes and no, I'm self employed and tend to focus more on business itself than what I actually do as a business, but without the qualifications, I wouldn't be doing what I do, and I do still use it every now and then.
