Arranged marriage

Once saw a tv programme where a woman let her family and friends pick a date for her, in the same vein as an arranged marriage.

Her friends and family looked for guys that they thought would be a good match for her. She then got to choose which ones to go on a date with, with a view to eventually possibly marriage.

Would you let your family/ friends do something similar for you?!

I don't see why not....I mean after all it's her decision who she decides to date and marry.

Plus letting friends and family choose isn't so bad....surely they know her better than anyone else right?

That was the interesting thing, they chose guys that she said she wouldn't normally have gone for. But they got on really well and it made her more open to meeting different people.

The thing is your family and friends will have your best interests at heart and will find out a lot more about someone than you ever could it can and does work very well....mind you it can also be disastrous.

Our friends and family know us better than we know ourselves, so yes of course I would, it spices things up, and someone I wouldn't pick, may be the one for me.I mean, im kind, considerate, strong,

Everyone else thinks im stubborn, bossy, daft as a brush, and very blonde.

Whether I let them or not my friends try! Or to be more precise my friends' wives and girlfriends try and palm me off onto their single friends. My mum tries as well , so far she has tried to arrange dates forme with her hairdresser, her pilates instructor and the assistant from the funeral partner organising my Gran's funeral!

I wouldn't trust anyone to make those choices for me.

mm The assistant from funeral parlour sounds ideal, used to handling stiffs

had a guy where I used to work.....booked a holiday back home to Bangladesh to visit with family and to check up on a house build that his uncle was overseeing for him......booked a month off....

.

.

When he returned he had been married off by his family.....said he had no idea about any of it. He was pretty pragmatic about it all but seemed, still seems, bizarre to me

Daughters are treated the same but it is their culture and expected of them

It's good if it's consensual. Not good if it's against someone's will.
