Over the rainbow, under the bridge

How many people just cannot take flattery seriously when receiving a message on here? I just find it odd that random men who have never met me use overwhelming flattery to try and get a meet.

It actually puts me off.

Or am I in the minority?

I do giggle when I watch and read the flattery dispatched to all the FEMs in the chat rooms - it just sounds so false and desperate

A sincere nice comment is nice, but blatant flattery is just cheap.

Sometimes I'll send a message to someone at the other end of the country complimenting them on their profile, or something, but not with the aim of getting a meet.

There is some very cringe worthy flattery and innuendo going on here, generally from the people who moan at any thread that isn't about sex with a post about 'this is a sex site ffs'

I don't go in chat (other than Canada) and don't get my kit off in there anyhow (can't be arsed with having the lappie on the floor so folk can see my nipples) so don't hear much of the OTT flannel that's apparently given out. I'll respond occasionally to a compliment of 'nice pics' if I'm in a good mood - if I get something along the lines of 'liked the 5th pic of you doing whatever' then I'll more than likely say thanks. Don't think I've ever had something so completely OTT and if I did I'd no doubt grin wryly and delete

Had one just yesterday using terms such as 'stunning', 'fabulous', etc. I just said no thanks. The response was something along the lines of how we could have a great time, how accomplished he was, blah, blah.

People use whatever means they can to gain advantages in all sorts.

They lie to get out of trouble, embellish in order to impress and yes flatter people in an attempt to seduce.

You can usually tell if it's shallow, empty words.....it's just the usual generic comments with no personal reference.

See it all the time in verifications, chat, threads etc.

For some people it works and they thrive on it, so good luck. For me, I lose interest very quickly.....though hmmm it's not that common anyway

I just take it with a pinch of salt and say 'thankyou'. Unless they are saying something daft like, you're beautiful, when they haven't seen a face pic. In that case I ask them how they could possibly think that!
