My brain hurts, I've just got back from taking a blind child to the zoo with work. Have you ever tried to describe animals to someone who has no concept of size or colour.

He did however protest at the smell of most of them even when I couldn't smell anything and did the right thing by deciding not to feed the elephants as they slobbered all over my hand

Its the same trying to talk a child and you have no idea if they get what you are saying because they can't talk

Makes us appreciate all of our faculties

Was there any way that you're "charge" would have been able to touch or hold any if the animals ?

I know some zoos are.able to offer this

He did manage to stroke the goats, he wasn't impressed with the smell though.
