Anyone know exactly why the government (all governments)promote good health?

I appreciate the obvious answer, but when you think about it.......it does make that much sense.

Because it costs the UK a fortune when people abuse their health then expect the NHS to "fix" them.

Are you thinking most people are intelligent enough to want to care for their health on a day to day basis anyway?

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Prevention is always better than cure. You can't remain economically active and productive if the whole workforce is sick. Sick people are a drain on resources. Disease isn't good for you. Infectious disease isn't good for you or other people.

I don't understand the OP.

Yeah..when I die I wanna go in the most grotesque way possible.

That only beats out being sucked to death by a leather clad busty bloodsucking vampire with plastic fangs!

Yeah..who gives a F about health.

Damn you government and here's me worried about kids in Africa with flies all over their heads.

Some of the ill health going around is because of the government. So them saying that is either stupid or just plain hypocritical.

The government make fortunes from tobacco and alcohol sales but they must be seen to do something about health otherwise we would all get cynical! however if you have any kind of soul, zest for life, or brains dare i say it you wouldnt even care about politics or indeed go to the trouble of writng a thread about the government

"they like the tax from ciggys and booze though"

To be fair, they tax everything else too! Even health insurance.

From a financial point of view, you would think their ideal scenario would be that we all eat unhealthily, bit overweight (not so obese we can't work). Smoke, drink and do little excercise. Work for 45-50 years and then keel over, before we draw a single penny of pension, or start costing serious money to the health services.

But to be fair, the kind old souls seem to want us to live forever. I would have thought they would just keep quiet on the subject.

You can retire at any age you choose...you just have to be able to afford it.

Even if I could. I'd get really bored, really fast.

There is only so much golf you can play or fishing or whatever your supposed to do when retired before I'd go clinically insane.

Really I have thought about this a lot now to the point I would like some help with working this one out

When we are born we all get given a number sorry title master mister mrs etc its called a birth citificate, which we all have (cough)

Apart from the royal family

We have all fell into the system by our parents, at the register of our birth,

Now what happens if we don't do this and have our children registered is it legal or ilegal ,

For instance if we don't fall into the trap our children can not get future benifits if needed etc but they can also only get done for common law ,

For example car tax is a no , mot is a no and insurance you don't need it , so you can basicly do what you want unless you hurt someone then the common law comes into place,

Hence why the government think of our health etc coz really we are in the system and thinking about it they technicly now own us and make us pay for things etc

Think how much they can loose out on capital ways

I think its got something behind this such as soverginity. Google it you be surprised

And the sovereign is not above divine law or natural law. He is above (ie. not bound by) only positive law, that is, laws made by humans.

Retirement is the time to give stuff back.

If people live 3 score and 10 ish, splitting it into 20 years to learn, 30 years to earn and the remainer to give something back - to society, your community, whatever you've benefitted from in the past.

Its probably their fault that some people don't have good health at all.
