If it's an offence (under some act or other) to send by electronic communication an abusive, malicious or threatening tweet

then isn't it equally an offence to re-send the same tweet?

My understanding is that the offence is committed in the "sending" of a message.

Anyone?

I'm not sure about Twitter rules, but it's deffo against the rules to send abusive or threatening messages on this site. Report to Admin!

Threats are surely against the law, and you can report to police (if you so desire)!

Malicious messages? I'm not so sure, depends on the content. Some things can be a civil offence, rather than a criminal offence (e.g. I think it's still a civil offence to allege that someone has a sexually transmitted disease). So you could sue, but not prosecute.

Or you can just tell yourself that it's all just pixels from strangers...... sticks and stones, and all that!

any social network must change there rules for reporting abuse an act upon it

The law is being discussed on Newsnight this evening, I think.

Signing the petition to get Twitter to have a report abuse button is a simple remedy. So is blocking the offensive twats. Apparently, TwitTwat notice people getting lots of blocks.
