Not exactly dating, but I've had meets with girls of a number of ethnicities now and didn't meet them due to their race, but rather because I liked them for who they were and they excited me - intelligence, beauty and character are not the sole property of any singular race.

Thats different issue to your original post. I for instance may not fancy white women. Therefore I won't date white women. But that doesnt mean I think there is anything wrong with a another asian guy having a relationship with a white woman.

the us is getting there.... slowly... but the uk is light years ahead multiculturally....

"My ex hubby was Muslim. I'm not.

So what about inter religious partnerships? "

I personally don't have any issues with inter racial / religious dating or relationships but have found it still seen as a taboo in some parts of society.

The most serious relationship i've had was with a white girl and it broke up primarily because of the way we were always looked at be from my side (asian) or her side. As much as we didn't let it bother us we still got strange 'looks' & glances of disapproval when out together. Eventually it took its toll on us and we drifted apart.

So to answer your question OP if 2 people of differing race or religion are happy together i don't have any issues with it and i don't think its for anyone to judge

Whenever I see questions based on race I cannot help but question the motive of the person asking the question.

Is it rooted in a degree of paranoia, do they think people may possibly being racist to them?

Is it because of experience, and a response to direct racism?

Is it because they themselves have race issues?

There are probably other motives behind asking these types of questions, but I'm struggling to think of many.

For clarity, I'm not suggesting these questions should not be asked, it is an open forum, but what motivates them?

So they have expressed their preference. If it's from here just move on to people who meet your preference and for whom you meet theirs. It's not dating, it's casual sex. Black, white and Asian men have experienced this over here.

That said, I do wonder whether the language used is because you're in America.

I think in this case it may be cultural if anything because it is very much treated very differently as an issue in the states than it is here.........

on this issue... I think the states are probably about 40-50 years behind where we are in the uk in that people here dont batter an eyelid if they see people of different races kissing or holding hands..... where as in the states it is still seen by a lot of people as very strange

so in that respect I kinda understand the language that was used....

Eh...its more prevalent than in the US simply due to the sheer size of the country. Dunno where you were. Most of the US states i've visited or lived in have been fine for it.

I've had more older people cross the street to tell me to "be with my own kind" in the UK (north and south) than i ever had anyone say anything to me in the US.

YMMV.

I like to pretend to myself that I am racially colour-blind but a thread like this one always reminds me that I am not. But then I ask myself whether it is a question of colour or of culture.

For me it was the word ‘interracial’ that immediately identified the OP as American and at the same time triggered a number of knee-jerk negative responses. Is it strange that those responses subsided as soon as I recognised that the OP is black? Clearly I have demonstrated to myself that I am not colour-blind. And then I ask myself whether I really care.

However whether or not I am culture prejudiced is a very different question, and perhaps a question about which I should care a lot.

But in small area were there are little to none ethnic group it a big problem. But I would have to find a future partner attractive and I am have a thing for light hair, blue eyes etc... So really unlikely I would be attracted in the first place.

It's maybe that I don't go to or look in the right places but I don't see very many interracial relationships in Scotland.

I reckon that's mostly 'cos we don't have anything like the number of non-white people up here compared to a similar sized English town.

Given the hostility which still greets dyke-jumping (Protestant with Catholic) relationships up here, it's maybe just as well.
