Being as you're going the Krakow you really should go to Auschwitz and also visit Oscar Shindler's factory.

Poland is a beautiful country with tons of history, you won't be bored. The foods great too, I highly recommend you try Pierogi and Golabki (pronounced Ga-wump-ki) but avoid Flaki, its not something for the uninitiated (its tripe soup).

When I went to Poland I wanted to go to Auschwitz, however I was there essentially on business and I spoke to our polish host, and he said that as a parent it is an incredibly hard place to visit as there are many harrowing pictures of children and how they suffered. He said he had taken other business visitors there who had ended up in tears and couldn't make it all the way round! So as a parent I chose not to go! But like I said earlier the salt mine near krakow is amazing, the food is amazing too! Krakow itself is a beautiful city! But be wary, in busy parts lots of pickpockets etc. I was lucky enough not to experience that and had a great host who ensured we saw as much as we could in 48 hours!! I would definitely visit again x

I'd maybe echo the sentiment about Auschwitz, it is a difficult/emotional place to visit. My family is from that region of Poland so, to me, it was important that I went.

Whatever you decide OP, you'll have a great time.

We live in Krakow. All the above are good, make sure you hang out it Kazimierz, visit Wawel and take in Wisla cruise.
