Over the rainbow, under the bridge

So shocking - the driver allegedly posted a boast on Facebook that he was doing twice the speed limit just before the whole train derailed. Nearly 80 dead at the last count.

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

It is only alleged at the moment - will be interesting if it is true.

However, despite that - why was he travelling way over the limit in a residential area? He must have ignored warning lights.

Gravesend

there must have been a safety system failure .. its a wake up call for the high speed train operators

"there must have been a safety system failure .. its a wake up call for the high speed train operators"

this ..

surely the 'controller' or supervisors in the control room could see he was well over the limit..

he may have been doing 120mph in a 50mph speed limit zone

the theory at the moment is the train was running 5 minutes late, and the driver may have been trying to make some of that time up.. but still madness...

the chilling thing is that 1/3 of all of the passengers on that train died....

R.I.P to all those who lost their lives and thoughts and prayers go to their families friends and relitaves!

Very sad indeed!

P.O. Box DE1 0NQ

I don't think that anyone would enter a rather severe curve in the track at such breakneck speeds unless he was not aware of the approaching speed limit, or there was a malfunction in the warning system.

Spanish trains are efficient and rapid, I traveled on a few last year, but there are always going to be tragedies.

That is the price we pay for our "need to be somewhere yesterday" society....

R.I.P. 80 +

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

In several reports I read he admitted to going twice as fast as he should have been.
